Imma tell you guys a true story......titled ".......... not welcome ' my family and I were staying at the ashling hotel.....and decided to eat out for breakfast as the prices were quite high at the hotel.....so we know ventured off ahead of my family to see if there was a reasonable establishment that serves breakfast at a reasonable price....the first cafe I came too seemed quite high for very little in terms of food....then I happened upon Dillons...so I waited at the open takeaway window to make a quick enquiry on breakfast (9am) on asking to be fair the man and lady inside the kitchen did look busy so I waited until someone could acknowledge I was there eventually I was half hearted by the gentleman and lady that they are busy (but no indication that they will be with me soon..... peculiar I thought....meh...okay I thought I'd take a look inside to see if the place was overly packed....I didn't see that....and saw that there was an available table to sit and eat.....so I went out of the restaurant to collect my two Hungry children and my heavily pregnant wife who were 60 meters down the road waiting for some good news on were to eat.....I said wife good news I've found some where to eat . The relief on my wife and childrens faces was evident....so we go in my wife says this looks like a nice place and it is.....it looks very nice inside.....so we take a seat by the front door close to the kitchen in full view ...upon walking in I say hello and nod my head to the gentleman who was working in the kitchen, who just as my family were taking their seats was walking pass me back to the kitchen we caught eyes but I was totally blanked, ignored...okay second strike but maybe he's just not that kinda guy ...so we sit down and take time view the surroundings I notice 3 or 4 gentleman eating their breakfast and I think a Spanish family eating breakfast behind a us....how big the restaurant is I'm unsure because our view was blocked ...now after a few minutes maybe in the space of 5 minutes both the man and elderly lady who work in the kitchen have walked by and ignored us maybe between them 5 times. At no time have we been acknowledged that we are even there ...not even given eye contact, my wife asks do we go up and order do we get menus....I said I have no idea they haven't even acknowledged us....now it's getting uncomfortable when I see the lady halfway walking back attends to the gentleman sitting at the bar that he would like something else then she strolls right pass us again.....at that moment I say to my family let's go I don't think we are wanted here....maybe the staff here are just bad at there job....as we come outside we noticed a lady standing outside the takeaway window ...who is given the biggest welcome from the man who was ignoring us....I look at my wife she looks at me and we both shake our head....my daughter and son ask why are we leaving which we reply kids it's not everyone that wants black people in their establishment....and we don't wanna eat from people who treat people like that...but as a father I was angry....but it wasn't even worth speaking to or pointing out this to the workers there because their stance was very clear .....so to any person of colour looking to eat here I say save yourself the trouble ...and find somewhere where you will be treated decently. We have been in many establishments in Ireland in last two days and nobody have treated us like how were treated by Dillons establishment of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDillonās seems to have reopened recently after being dark for a while. Iāve had lunch and some small plates at dinner time, and the food is of good quality and nicely presented. They do always seem to be missing some ingredient or another on the menu though.
I think Dillonās would be perfect for filling a market gap in this area: weekend brunch. They already have a decent breakfast menu and nice coffee, all they need to do is add eggs Benedict and avocado toast, and expand the hours to the afternoon. Dillonās could capture the morning Phoenix Park runners and midday tourists walking by, not to mention the massive apartment blocks nearby who would make...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCalled in here earlier for a bit to eat. Was undecided what to have. The waitress said they are still doing the full Irish breakfast. "You ve made up my mind for me" I said to her & ordered that. It was the most delicious and tasty full Irish I have ever eaten. Well cooked and presented. The staff here are welcoming, friendly, mannerly and polite. All that is a huge plus as far as I am concerned. I had the coffee āļø instead of the tea šµ & the coffee was so good, I had another one. I recommend here and do try their full Irish. It was very tasty š. Friendly and welcoming staff make a huge...
