Our first stop as soon as we disembarked at Heuston Station from Limerick. We were starving and delighted to see that the Carvery was in operation despite the early hour. We arrived at 12 noon. There were 2 massive joints of meat under the lights - beef and turkey. Both myself and my sister chose the beef and were treated to 2 thick, massive slices. Then we got cabbage, carrots, 2 scoops of mash and gravy all over. Gorgeous, we cleared the lot and had dessert. My only gripe is that the plates have been reduced in size and there’s literally no room for the potatoes. The slabs of beef took up more than half of the plate (no complaints there) and the veg took up the rest of the space. The server then landed 2 scoops of mash on top of the veg cos there was no space left. These plates are oval in shape and better suited to a breakfast meal. Please bring back the big round dinner plates that are featured in your photo gallery from last year. Your beautiful food can be better divided and presented. This could have been an anomaly as the breakfast was just finishing and we were first in the door for the lunch menu. Staff, atmosphere and setting is all amazing and this restaurant is a must visit for the tired and...
Read moreSaturday morning, before a weekend trip, I stopped to have some breakfast. Coffee was excellent and you even get to choose your preferred mug.
The breakfast tho - it was calcified! My egg, despite looking edible, was as hard as a frisbee! I did not know that fried eggs can turn so solid! Whatever moisture was left in this breakfast, was the tomato - it was 20 seconds from becoming ketchup, or whatever happens to tomatoes, when you keep them under that heat lamp for extended periods of time.
When a member of staff approached me to ask me if I'm done with the ornamental peace, they call breakfast, I pointed out that it is calcified and quite inedible - and she found that quite amusing. The warm smile of - yup, just cheated you out of your money, gonna rinse this off and serve it to the next guy, because I know you're in a hurry for a train and won't make a big fuss.
This was at 10am, not like I demanded a breakfast at an unreasonable time!
So, if you're looking to get drunk at an unreasonable time - this is a place for you. If you're looking for breakfast - go to easons- they will probably give you a free sheet of cardboard, which will carry less risk of food poisoning and will be more nutritious...
Read moreI’ve given all star reviews because I couldn’t possibly let it be known that this is an nothing but an absolute lovely bar and all of the staff are always amazing and friendly buttttttt Yesterday I sat outside and I had to watch a chef or kitchen staff whatever he is be incredibly rude to another staff member basic bullying to the extent that when the staff member being bullied got up and walked away this questionable kitchen staff called him boy I had to intervene and say it’s actually very rude to call a person boy in ireland to that he basically just starred at me in some form of intimidation but as I already knew he was a bully it didn’t bother me that much so I just kept looking back at him and said yeah it is , as I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years for years chefs / busk boys are not meant to be seen on the floor by the public it’s a major no no in a proper establishment and they definitely should not be wearing their gloves outside smoking and bullying other staff members in front of paying customers it made me really uncomfortable which is why I’m leaving this review . . . The reason I am is because it was incredibly hard to watch and think that this younger staff is being...
