Before staying here I looked at the reviews and saw only 4.0, wondered why it was so low, now I know-
Stayed one night here, being it was close to the airport, however in my review for the hotel I mentioned we should have just stayed back at The Shelbourne- I made reservations for dinner with concierge for 8:30, it was the earliest they had available-
So at 8:30 we walk down the stairs, show up and get seated-We were starving and wanted to order right away, in which we did-So our order was taking at 8:35- -A cold soup -A simple pasta with cheese, no meat -Halibut -Side salad
At 9:10 we decided that a cold soup should have been out at least 10 minutes after we ordered, so we asked the waiter, he said "it will be right out" at 9:20 I flagged down what looked to be a floor manager, he said it would be right out...we said that we would just want our entrees to come out, they can ignore the soup now...we never saw him again-
At 9:31 we decided we had waited long enough, we literally sat at a table with no food on it for one hour-It was just the two of us, pretty easy order but we just sat and sat and sat-Even a table that was seated about 10 minutes after us had their starters come out, that is when we had enough-
As well, back when I was in HS and a waiter...if you notice it is taking a long time for food to be brought to your tables, you notify the manager-It is the waiters job to mentally calculate when the food should be out, if you walk by a table and after 30 minutes there is no cold soup, something is not right-As well the entrees that we ordered, and he walked by at least 6-8 times and it didn't dawn on him that they should have been out by now? The best is when he asked if my boyfriend liked the soup, he replied "it never came" his soup spoon was sitting clean as a whistle on the table-
After we walked out we went directly to the manager of the hotel, so he could be informed of why we walked out- A whole other fiasco came from the manager of the hotel stating to order room service from the bar, in which we did-I ordered the vegetable linguine, and when I looked at what was delivered to our room, which was delivered by the waiter that ignored our table, awkward, it was nothing but crab claws in a spicy sauce-Not 2-5 claws either, around 10 in a bowl of linguine, I couldn't eat it b/c A) it's not what I ordered B) it wasn't even on the menu...not at Fahrenheit nor the Bar C). I don't like crab in my pasta-
And we my boyfriend called to let them know it wasn't what I ordered the manager actually said "she didn't ask for plain" You are right, I ordered what was printed in the bar menu, in which we we were told to order from and it stated "Linguine with Mediterranean vegetables in a lemon and thyme sauce" I didn't tell him "I want crab claw pasta"
We got up early the next day and was glad to leave-We ate at the bar and that wasn't bad, so if you want food, just go down to the bar-It's a tad slow but at least you will...
Read moreAs a severe allergy sufferer to eggs and nuts, going out to eat is incredibly anxiety provoking and many places I've been to (home in Ireland or abroad) have either half killed me or don't take me seriously and so service in many places do not promote much confidence which is why I don't ever return to them. Last night I was at the Fahrenheit restaurant to celebrate a 3 year wedding anniversary with my wife. Going for dinner can be anxiety provoking for her too but this restaurant was impeccable. From the moment we walked in, the young gentleman, Jamie Hickey (I believe there are two jamies), gave a very warm welcome and he asked if it was an occasion. I said it was our anniversary and he sent me off to have a drink at the bar whilst he set up a large table by the bay windows with rose petals scattered around it for myself and my wife. A wonderful surprise as it was totally unexpected. Melanie, who then came to take our orders and welcome us (I think she was the manager) filled us with confidence and reassurance surrounding my allergies. From there it was a truly fantastic evening of amazing food from the kitchen and really attentive and caring service. Melanie was double checking everything with the kitchen and the attitude was 'nothing is impossible' in terms of the menu. There was full confidence in the kitchen. The menu was very clear re allergens too. All of the food was cooked to perfection (scallops, pork belly, Halibut, Salmon). I even got to have dessert (White Choc Panna cotta with an array of nibbles on the plate!!). This is a novelty for me. I'm usually told... 'we can do you some fruit maybe' or... 'you can't have anything'. The plate of dessert had written on it, in chocolate sauce, 'Happy Anniversary'. A Lovely touch. We've never been so relaxed and enjoyed eating out so much. We knew we were in good hands. Thank you to all of the staff in Fahrenheit and the Knights bar (the afters!). You pulled out all of the stops which made it all the more special. So, a special thank you to Melanie, Jamie (Hickey) and of course the kitchen for a memorable evening. We'll...
Read moreClontarf Castle and the Fahrenheit Restaurant undeniably boast stunning architecture and luxurious surroundings, making them an appealing choice for special occasions. We recently visited to celebrate a birthday with a group of ten and were looking forward to a memorable dining experience. Unfortunately, the evening left much to be desired.
The menu offered limited choices for a three-course meal, with only two options per course. This became particularly problematic when we requested a gluten-free fish alternative for one of our guests who has severe food allergies. Despite our polite request for a safer option like salmon or tuna, the only fish available was trout, which was served with chorizo—something our guest couldn't eat. The staff’s inability to accommodate this simple dietary request was surprising and disappointing.
The gluten-free meal provided to our friend was minimal, consisting only of a small vegetable soup, a basic salad with leaves, tomato, and mozzarella, and a panna cotta for dessert. Considering the €49 charge per person, regardless of what was actually served, this felt unjustified, especially since others received more substantial meals like beef or fish dishes. Drinks were not included in the price.
Waiter who attended to us was impolite, impatient. His attitude was arrogant.
While the ambiance of the restaurant is undoubtedly fancy, the overall experience was far from it. Poor service, lack of flexibility with the menu, and unfair pricing left a bad taste in our mouths. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend the Fahrenheit Restaurant, nor would I...
