I haven't been in Kavanagh's post-covid life. I've got to say, from the moment I arrived in (having been devastated by the lack of Monday night food in a couple of other nearby establishments), I was welcomed almost immediately! I explained my situation, and the lovely bar staff handed me a menu, and showed me the specials board. They were great company while I waited on my other diner. When we ordered, we used the specials board because the selection was fabulous 👌 I had the chicken and mushroom pie, and i have to say there was literally zero skimping on ingredients, and the side was great. My dad had the fish, and he and inhaled before I'd even got through half of mine 😁 All in all, great pub, great service and great food throughout the evening. And my family are obsessed with a good Guinness pint and both lads who joined us that night, said it was a very good pint in Dublin as a whole 👌 So thank you to all in Kavanagh's for making the most random night of the week, simply brill 🙌 We will definitely...
Read moreHave just had the worst fish and chips ever in Kavanaghs. I've been reading reviews from a couple of years ago and there not bad. Obviously you had a different chef then. Today was absolutely horrible, fresh fish shouldn't smell of fish, the batter was soggy on both the fish and onion rings, the peas were straight out of the fridge. When I complained I was told the fish was fresh in yesterday from Kish. I was told hake is always a gray colour, I've had beautiful hake on several occasions and it was snow white in colour and odourless. The home cooked chips were an absolut joke burned edges ,hard in the middle. Cmon guys 20 euro and not willing to make a concession for complaining. Our total bill was 64 euros, lovely bar man and nice clientele, but you really need someone who can cook properly. I won't right you off totally, but I'll never be back for food. Maybe even giving us a free capuchino could have avoided...
Read moreVisiting Dublin and was looking for a Live Music venue on northside. Found Kavanaghs Malahide Road on Google "Live Music Every Saturday". Got there and bought a vodka and coke for €9.20. A guy then came on singing very loudly to backing tracks. This is just karaoke with one singer all night. I stayed for an hour and watched the place empty by 50%....... Please don't advertise this as live music. Live music means someone is actually playing music LIVE and also remember this is a local bar and should not be charging 5 star hotel prices. Pub life is changing in Dublin and it's up to the people to stand up to price gouging. In my case it was too late to go anywhere else. I felt ripped off on two counts and overall it left a very bad taste. I must also say it is a well run clean lounge with excellent friendly...
