I would give zero stars if I could! Never had worse customer service in all of my life. Walked in with 6 of my family members after a family funeral at about 1pm and was instantly approached and asked were we a funeral party And told that the bar man was on his own so he didn’t know if he could let us in. We told him there was only 2 more people coming and then when 3 more family members came, the bar man proceeded to shout from behind the bar stating “you said there was only 8 of yous” then came over and said he would be in trouble with his boss cause they don’t allow funeral party’s.His whole attitude was so rude. I had to explain we were just a family having some lunch it wasn’t a funeral party. Felt so uncomfortable sitting there and felt like such a burden. Then a few people left and one more of my family came down and he was stopped at the door because of his appearance and asked “where are you going?” And my uncle explained “inside to my family” and he was asked “who Is your family?” Keeping in mind the place was empty and this was like half 2 in the day ! And then was almost refused entry! Complete discrimination by them. Then a while later the barman came over and mocked my cousins laugh and gave out to her saying she’s being a bit loud!
Any other place would be delighted by the business! Avoid this place and do not give your business to them ! still in shock at how we...
Read moreTo whom it may concern, The afor mentioned establishment has been the most unpleasant and unsatisfactory restaurant I have attended since the opening of all restraunts and bars after covid restrictions. The general ethos and atmosphere that once was the almighty graingers has now become a stale, shambolic, impersonal environment. In addition to this, I was served a bald old man to which I found was obnoxious and rude. I feel the old Grainger's experience has been overthrown by the commercial online bookings and inflated price of pints. As I perused the menu I was shocked and apalled to see the price of a simple pint of Guinness to be the enormous amount of 5.90. It is clear to me, 1884 has been making these tough times even tougher profiting off us working class pub goers. The general feeling received on my end was unwelcoming and uncomfortable. After seeing many spaces free in the front dining area we were ushered to the rear section to be hidden from the general public. I felt possibly this was due to my age and casual dress in comparison to the well dressed and middle...
Read moreYesterday evening was my first visit to 1884 but it certainly won't be my last. The food was amazing and the beef in the cibiatta was melt in the mouth, they also accomadated my partner's "plain" eating without complaint. Although it was only Tuesday outdoors was buzzing which created a pleasant ambiance. The indoors restoration is both welcoming and realaxing and there is another outdoor area at the back. One of the staff informed us that there will be a large screen installed before the Dubs match on Sunday and that the whole area will be covered and have heater's incase of inclement weather. There's is no need to book either, but I for one will be heading early on Sunday to ensure a good seat. This establishment is indeed a great asset to the area.....Oh and an added bonus for me the glass of house wine is by far superior to any I have tried elsewhere. Thanks to all the staff (and chef,) for the great food and the warm welcome your hard work under difficult times is much appreciated.👏👏
despite the fact it was busy the staff were attentive and...
