If you are looking for an amazing Pakistani &Eastern Cuisine Restaurant in Dublin, Ireland. I highly recommend Kinara located on the main Clontarf Road. It is not far from Vernon Avenue. Upon arriving just ring the door bell on the side of the restaurant. I was immediately made feel very welcome and got an amazing seat by the window. I was served water and given a menu once I was seated at my table. I ended up being ordering an Indian beer and had an amazing soup as an appetizer. The soup was absolutely amazing and was delicious. Upon finishing my appetizer I ordered a familiar Indian Curry that I had before at other Indian Restaurant’s. I ordered the murgh makhani Curry, rice and Nann Bread. Everything I ordered for my main course was just perfect. Lastly to finish off my night at Kinara I ordered an Cappuccino. The cappuccino was delicious and perfect. The customer service at Kinara was absolutely amazing and the staff were very professional. Everyone that worked at Kinara took so much pride in their Restaurant, Jobs and taking care of their customers. The restaurant was very clean and the restrooms were clean also. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland. I have traveled all over the world with the United States Marines. Also have traveled all over the United States. I certainly know a great Pakistani Middle Eastern Cuisine restaurant from all my travels. If you are looking for amazing Indian Cuisine look no further. Read moreWhile both the place and the welcome at the entrance are great by appearance, the food and some members of the waiting staff were disappointing at best.
About the food: Maybe I was particularly unlucky with what I ordered, but the monkfish I had (26,- € plus mandatory service fee; 28,60 € therefore) came with the taste and consistency of pretty dry chicken. It was obviously cooked with all the spices together for quite a while and lost it’s own taste entirely in the process. Rice had to be ordered extra, (no joke! - so another 3,75 €, plus 10 %, total 4,13 €). The Creme brûlée with Shortbread (7,95 € plus built-in tip of 80 Cents, so 8,75 €) could unfortunately not make up for that. It came straight from the fridge. The Creme itself, which is supposed to be smooth, was rather like curd. The vanilla was real though. Still, spending more than 40,- € for a dinner should result in at least one enjoyable aspect, of which there was none (apart from the company).
Regarding the waiting staff: we were there with a party of six people. Splitting the bill three ways was asked too much. When the other deserts were brought to the table after 20 minutes, I was told that my initial order (panna cotta) was not available. You would think that could be noticed and communicated before all other deserts are delivered. When one of the waiters let a knife slip to the ground and couldn’t be bothered to pick it up, my company kindly got up and did that for him. No “thank you” or friendly face.
Our visit to Kinara was a weird experience overall and it should be said that I tend to rate places rather friendly (as everybody can see in my...
Read moreI should not rate because I love being in Kinara for a meal. Yesterday was my birthday, I was there for dinner and came back disappointed and this was my second time when I was disappointed in a row.
I understand the fact, that on Friday especially bank holiday weekend should have been super busy but I believe the management should have more people at work to place an order and serve.
First, after been there for 20mins, eventually I had to ask for menu.
Secondly, we had two starters and one main course, where we didn't eat the starter because the food was cold, meat was super dry and chewy.
Kebabs in the starter, I don't know what the batter was around that, but there was no meat in it just the flour taste.
We left the restaurant, after eating half of the starters and asked the person to get us the main course into the take away because the order was placed all together, we couldn't cancel that.
I am not saying the place is bad, but I think it's unfair to not having a quality of service or food , we should be expecting for the money we would spend at one of the good restaurants in the area.
I love going to Kinara and their other three restaurants owned by the same management but it was unexpected to have such an experience again for the second time, and I was regretting, that I should have not chosen Kinara for my birthday dinner, which would left me unhappy and still hungry at the end.
I hope my next visit wouldn't be disastrous or equally horrifying if I would decide to go again , which I am not...
