Hi there, I first visited Póg last August. I received the wrong food, was waiting 15 minutes for the correct dish, never received it, asked again and the other staff member didn’t even know I was missing anything. I got my pancakes in the end but my partners food was cold as he had been waiting for mine to arrive. Anyways this wasn’t a huge deal to me, as the food was good when I eventually got it and I’ve always wanted to try Póg properly. So I went back yesterday to give it a second chance. I know they only do takeaways Monday-Friday, but I had work in an hour so wanted to chance my arm and ask anyway. I have no problem being told no at all especially as I knew they were likely to say no. To my surprise when I arrived, the server outside (who was lovely) told me I can go up to the till inside to order takeaway. I got to the till and asked can I order food. The server behind the bar/till was immediately standoffish and told me the bar was closed. I thought she meant drinks so I tried to explain that I’m ordering takeaway food and the other server guy told me to come here. As I said this, the guy from outside came in and spoke to the woman behind the bar. She then rolled her eyes, huffed, and said what do you want. I was taken aback but ordered pancakes. She then huffed again and said we’re closed the kitchen is closed. This went back and forth a bit until I walked out. I don’t know what is going on in the clontarf Póg but the staff are so unwelcoming and rude, there is zero communication between any of them and both times I’ve visited I haven’t been able to tell if there’s even anyone in charge. It seems like a very messy setup. This whole experience was just confusing, off putting, and I felt like a burden coming in. I don’t know if the staff are treated fairly or they’re just rude but either way something needs to change there. As a server in hospitality, I hate leaving bad reviews, but I also will not be subject to rude servers. The server behind the bar seemed fed up, and I totally understand that. But I was a customer who just asked for a takeaway and was left completely confused and as if I was in the way. If I didn’t feel so unwelcome but was still told I can’t order, I wouldn’t be leaving this review. No customers shouldn’t be left feeling unwelcome and as if they are a burden. Kudos to the fella who originally tried to help me, he was very nice and seemed just as confused as I was. Really hope something changes as I don’t want to write Póg off completely but the price currently does not match the food...

ROTTEN SMOOTHIE, BURNED PANCAKES AND RUDE SUPERVISOR. Reposting complaint as management didn’t care about previous and probably did not read. We waited 20 minutes for a table and another 30 minutes before getting our food. Drinks arrived after the food. When my smoothie finally arrived, it was fizzy and clearly expired. All three of us tried it, and it was obviously off. I brought this to the attention of a supervisor, who took it away—no apology, no explanation.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, our pancakes were burned. It this stage we were too upset about our visit, and we asked to take them back, and get the bill. Th waiter brought the bill—WITH both the inedible pancakes and the rotten smoothie still on it. He did ask if we wanted fresh pancakes for takeaway, but we refused and asked for both items to be removed. Instead of fixing it immediately, we were left waiting another seven minutes for a corrected bill while staff actively avoided our table.

Finally, the supervisor brought the new bill. At that point, I pointed out how badly the situation was handled, the complete lack of an apology, and the fact that no effort was made to improve our experience. Her response? A rude, dismissive “Then write a complaint, thanks.”

After posting my complaint, the management responded with a generic, copy-paste apology—the same one they send to everyone. It’s clear that they didn’t even read my review properly, considering this wasn’t just bad service, but a serious health and safety issue involving rotten food. Their response also told me to contact them via email, which I had already done, yet they never bothered to reply.

This place doesn’t care about customers, food quality, or safety. Serving expired food is a serious violation. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away...

Three of us had breakfast, 2 meals came out cold a dripping in grease. We sent them back, same ones were given back to us, again cold and dripping in grease. 3rd breakfast still hadn't arrived even though we got the other 2 dishes twice. Tried to eat but it was awful. Cold, greasy, avocado from a tube, rashers so hard you couldn't eat them. We sent them back a second time and were offered an apology and a free drink which we declined. 3rd meal eventually arrived after asking 2 waiters. Same story, cold and horrendously greasy. It wasn't edible and was sent back again. The waitress was so apologetic and again offered some free drinks but we had waited so long we had to leave.

Also no manager on site to deal with complaints or issues. It's unfortunate, seems they haven't got a decent system in place, staff trying their best but no one giving direction and a...

If you’re looking for a cool café with amazing vibes and a breathtaking view, POG Clontarf is the place to be. The service? Always friendly and efficient—the kind that makes you feel at home from the very first “hi!” Now, let’s talk about the pancakes—fluffy, delicious, and topped with Instagram-worthy goodness. Every bite feels like a warm hug! And if you’re a matcha fan, their Matcha Latte is smooth, perfectly balanced, and made just right for those who love an authentic taste (and a little aesthetic boost for the feed, of course). Whether you’re in for a laid-back brunch, a refreshing break, or just a great coffee with a view, POG Clontarf is that go-to spot worth every visit.

I had such a great time at POG Café! The food was seriously amazing, everything we ordered was so tasty and beautifully made. The place has such a cozy and cool vibe, it’s the kind of spot you want to stay at for hours. But what really made the difference was the service. Anderson was incredible. so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. You can tell he really cares about making people feel comfortable. He made our experience even better, and I’ll definitely be coming back because of that! Highly recommend this place — it’s a gem!

We had afternoon tea and pancakes for kids. Really excellent food. Fabulous views along the water. Looking out over the wooden bridge. Pancakes were a generous portions and smothered in chocolate sauce and white chocolate drops. Afternoon tea was delicious and also generous portions (we couldn't finish it!). There were vegan options as part of it. Tasty toasties ans avocado toast. Sweet treats and fruit were yummy! Recommended!!!
