I didn’t have the best experience eating the dishes here.
Focaccia- it was underproven and a bit “gummy”. Overall, wouldn’t suggest it as other friends went on different days and also felt it was poorly made. Prosciutto and melon - the tiniest melon slices compared to the amount of prosciutto. There was also plastic that had somehow gotten into my dish. The Wood Fire Cafe on the North Side at the very least gives you an entire melon slice for you to enjoy with the prosciutto, which should be how it is always served, especially without the crunch of plastic pieces. Beetroot and ricotta ravioli - it was lacking in flavor and didn’t leave me overly impressed. I definitely wish I had gotten the cacio e Pepe that I saw others enjoying. Palestinian Pasta- I forgot the name but the proceeds went to Palestinian NGO efforts. This I immediately returned as it was so salty it was inedible. I was quite annoyed at this stage and was kicking myself for having come to the restaurant to treat myself as it had become more of a punishment than an enjoyable experience. Hannah’s beef fillet - this was excellently made and saved the evening for me. The meat cut like butter and was incredible, but for the cost and considering it is Irish beef, you have to be the worst restaurant on the planet to mess that up.
Cocktails - had the peach spritz and gin basil smash. The bartender was anmazing and saw that I had a poor experience with the other dishes, so I was given the chocolate and olive oil dessert on the house.
10/10 would come here if they offered themselves as a cocktail bar only option, but as an overall dining experience, considering the cost and waiting list, you’re better off eating at other restaurants than being as disappointed as I was by the majority of the dishes I had. Skip the appetizers, try a classic pasta dish (do not go for anything experimental, you’ll be sorely disappointed), a good steak, and...
Read moreThis place was just amazing! Food: familiar to modern “small plates” European style, but different. And different in a GREAT way. I couldn’t recommend this place more it honestly blew it out of the park because it hit (almost) everything at such a high level. Wine 10/10 Burrata: 10/10-creamy, saucy, flavoursome, the pine nuts, mint and aubergine were sensational! Tuna: 10/10-fresh, zingy Cacio e Pepe: 9/10- texture of pici was perfect, the pepper hit was wonderful Ravioli: 9/10-crispy sage, crunchy hazelnuts, perfectly cooked pasta again Bread: 5/10-the only thing we didn’t think was good. Chewy but not in a light, fluffy way, it was a bit rubbery almost, definitely needs a bit of work but not bad! Honestly would appreciate an honest simple free bit of bread to mop up the sauces.
Desserts, again amazing Tiramisu: 10/10-one of the best I’ve ever had Chocolate tart: 10/10-salted caramel delicious and not too heavy with the beautifully dense but approachable chocolate tart! Perfect portion size
I haven’t had a restaurant wow me like this in a long time. Service is also amazing, personable, easy going and the venue is so charming. Hard to beat this place, ill be telling everyone I know to...
Read moreGiving 5 stars but would give 4.5/5. Went with a party of 4. Pros: Flavours were top quality. Found some of the pasta starters absolutely delicious. The beef fillet was lovely - loved the onion rings. They have sound absorbers on the ceiling which takes away some of the sound in the room which helps with the ambience. Limoncello sour was class.
Cons: It is definitely on the expensive side in my opinion. What epitomised this was the bread - €5 for one relatively small piece of Focaccia. And no other bread available. For a place that had a lot of dishes with lovely sauces, you want some fresh bread to mop it up and you're not paying €5 a head every time to do that. The anitpasti/snacks were defo on the pricey side too so we only ended up getting 2 between 4 of us. You also dont really feel like you get value for money regarding portion sizes, particularly with the starters and snacks. They are very small. The mains are the perfect size though. I wasn't a fan of the deserts. The rum cake thing wasn't pleasant but maybe to other...
