The Ivy Gardens in Dublin is an outdoor oasis that is truly captivating. The gardens are full of lush greenery and vibrant colors that create a peaceful atmosphere when you visit. From the outside, the garden looks like a maze with winding pathways and hidden secrets tucked away around every corner. The ivy-laden walls create a sense of privacy and seclusion, while still maintaining an open, airy feel. The walkways are covered with different plant species carefully cultivated to create a unique experience. Flowerbeds provide pops of color throughout the garden and there are plenty of shady spots to relax on warm days. This beautiful quiet park is to be destroyed. The OPW have given permission for work to begin next April. The plans can be viewed at the planning office the intention is to allow the beautiful old stone wall on the East side of the park to be demolished to allow access to a new privately owned building in the carpark of the National Concert Hall. Planning has been given already. The planning notice was posted on the wall in the Concert hall so that nobody would notice it. It worked! We, the residents of Dublin City are objecting vociferously. Trees are already felled. One idea is to make a walkway from Harcourt Street , to the new building. There is a change to what was an original planning application, (to erect a Hotel). This was rejected, thankfully. However, it has appeared on the planning application list again earlier this year, again, the same build except now the developers have astutely decided to call it a Children's Science Museum. We have a petition on Facebook. ., so far we have 20+thousand signatures s. Please sign up. This is a private company whose intention it is to colonise this gem, turning it into what will appear as a garden for their building. This same story happened in Herbert Park, when a beautiful old wall and Victorian shelter was knocked down, giving the park the appearance of belonging in the guests of the Herbert Hotel. We need to save our precious parks which are a dwindling Which are an essential resource as our...

Iveagh Gardens is a true hidden gem in the heart of Dublin. Tucked away just behind Harcourt Street and a short stroll from St. Stephen’s Green, it’s easy to miss—but once you find it, you’ll be glad you did. The park is beautifully designed, combining formal landscaping with a natural, relaxed feel. Highlights include elegant fountains, a small waterfall, a charming grotto, and wide open green spaces perfect for picnics or reading a book. What really sets it apart is the peaceful atmosphere. Unlike other city parks, it’s rarely crowded, even on sunny days. It feels like a secret escape right in the middle of the city, offering quiet pathways, shady spots under mature trees, and beautifully maintained flower beds. It’s a great place to unwind, have a thoughtful walk, or just enjoy a bit of nature without leaving the city center. Occasionally, it hosts events like Taste of Dublin or small concerts, but outside of those times, it remains calm and serene. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it’s well worth taking the time to find the entrance and explore this tranquil oasis.

Went with my class yesterday for a little picnic and I was enchanted the moment I went in, it's a little park (in comparison to its neighbor) but it's a great place to have a breathing from the city and connect with nature, it's not very populated so that makes it great to have some time for yourself while you walk in the numerous paths that the place have, it contains a beautiful waterfall that serves as a great background for photos and videos and it has several landmarks such as statues to goddesses, a human rights memorial, a rose garden, a little maze and even the remains of an elephant! This place has it all!
