Really poor experience in 31 Lennox. It has so much potential though, my main concern is the cleanliness. The carpet up the stairs is really badly stained, sticky and also smells slightly- which wasn’t a great first impression when we made our way to the table. The table was also sticky when we sat down at it. I ordered the mushrooms on toast and unfortunately there was so much garlic on my plate I couldn’t finish the meal. Service was quite poor as no one checked to see if our order was okay, and the table beside us had to ask 3 times for their bill.
Really disappointed about this place as it seems to have great reviews and the location is ideal. Also notice some really poor responses to bad reviews on this platform from the restaurant owner! Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this place to dine.
Response to Restaurant’s reply:
Hi Darren,
Thanks for your response, as I can’t speak on behalf of my sister- I will respond to your accusations. Thanks for doing research on us too, if you didn’t know already I too worked in the service industry and this is also not the way to respond to a poor review. Was there a breach in GDPR in checking out ‘who we were’ from the booking system, or was this pure luck by googling the name attached to our review?
There was nothing orchestrated during our visit. As I said previously- no one checked to see how our meal was. Our plates were still on the table when we asked for the bill, and even then- no one asked did we enjoy our food.
Some of your comments are quite slanderous, so I will respond to the ones I can speak for:
My father asked was the burger well done. It was the only question asked and he had to ask it multiple times. There was no mocking your waitress or ‘testing her’. There was also no mention of ‘minimum standards etc.’.
Accusing me of ‘modifying’ my dish. This is untrue- I simply took the onions which were in fact covered in garlic (see picture) off the toast to try and salvage my meal. I can only assume you studied the cameras to look at our ‘orchestrated’ movements, so you can see again that I wasn’t modifying anything.
As we left, the bill was paid and the damage was done. And I will reiterate that no one asked us how our dining experience was. It seems you put more effort into typing your responses to reviews than checking in on your paying customers. Or better yet- cleaning your stairs.
Glad to hear the carpet is being replaced, hope the new one doesn’t get to the state your previous one was. As I said before, this place had great potential and given your response- to anyone reading AVOID. Don’t make the mistake that we did in reading reviews after our...
Read moreWe stopped by this eaterie without a booking at lunchtime on a bank holiday. We were seated outdoors which was fine, but became quite cold after a few minutes so we asked our server if there was any possibility of having a table indoors. She said she would check but when she returned with the menu, there was no mention of it, so we asked again and were curtly told no.
We ordered our food and 2 smoothies however, we had a 40 minute wait for it. Whilst waiting for our food, a lady who was seated outside complained of being cold to another staff member and was acoomodated indoors. When our food arrived, it was delicious but the salad was a Panzanella and not the parma ham salad I had ordered. Our smoothies took a further 5 minutes to arrive and fortunately, another member of staff asked us if everything was ok and when we asked where our smoothies were, he apologised and took them off the bill. It had taken so long to get the salad that I was afraid to send it back as I was really hungry and really cold, so I said nothing, but was really disappointed by the attitude of our server - she hadn't listened to anything we had said to her - between asking for an indoor seat to my food order.
The other server and the quality of the food was the saving grace but overall I would be wary of returning due to the bad service we received...
Read moreVery lack lustre service on a quiet Saturday morning. Zero atmosphere in this place and the restaurant looked like it hadn't been cleaned from the night before with the main workstation looking unkept and trays of glasses dotted around. The food was incredibly average, nothing really worth remarking on. At €35 for 2 breakfasts and 1 coffee, totally overpriced. No toast with a main egg dish? Cmon.
Response to (now retracted) comment from restaurant: Just checked the time we paid, it was 11:30 when we settled for the tasteless breakfasts. We were there since 10:30. There was a party upstairs, downstairs was empty bar us and another table and 1 couple having a coffee outside. So planet wise, Earth.
Sore responses are gas though, best of luck competing in a market where youre clienteles comments aren't taken constructively. I came back to the restaurant as id had a great experience before. Must have gone downhill recently, wonder why that is...
Must have been hallucinating about the clogged jacks, no toilet roll, dirty glasses dotted opposite our table and grubby work station - I'll have to attribute that to that scabby toastless "omelette" or the wild amount of people who "just left" pre 10:30.
Alma...
