We love Rody Bolands. It was our first local when we moved to Ireland 9 years ago and will likely remain always in our hearts as a special place.
The atmosphere is always lively & cheerful without ever getting chaotic and overwhelming.
Its population is generally young without becoming a place too trendy where people of a different age would look or feel out place.
In many nights we ended up making unexpected friends and that makes the place even more special.
It helps a lot that the beer is consistently good and the food great.
In particular we find that their Lasagne & Chicken Wings are worth the mini-trip we have to do now to get there.

Read moreI honestly can't understand how I made the same mistake twice, I ordered a whiskey sour in this place, and my friend mentioned that I thought it was horrendous before, but it was ordered... all 3 of us had a taste of this utterly vile concoction , that tastes nothing like a whiskey sour and doesn't actually taste servable either. Would have expected the server would have asked why I left a full 10 euro whiskey sour so I could at least express that it was not drinkable, but alas, Google reviews will have to do. Read more4.5. Probably low key doing some of the best pubgrub in Dublin. You'll forget all about your drink order when you're tackling the house burger. A monstrous behemoth draped in applewood smoked bacon thats contained for about a minute between soft and puffy soda farls.
Most pubs in Dublin will serve you up the same lazy well-done slab of meat between a Lidl brioche for the same price point but Rudy's is going that mile extra where it could get away without it. Props to them.
Nachos and fries are grand, pubgrub standard, the portion sizes are heeefty though. I'll be coming back...
