So this pub's security has a real problem with the truth. I was in the mayson next door, where I had a drink, then was asked to leave as the hotel was closing for residents only. I did this without fuss and asked the member of staff if it okay to go through to this pub next door, to which they said yes. I was in only 2 minutes queueing to get a drink when I was approached by another member of security who said to me, step outside with me. I did, and when outside was told we will no longer be able to offer you service tonight. When I asked why, they said it's residents of the mayson only. So I asked is everyone currently in that pub a resident of the mayson. I knew they weren't I have previously walked into this public house despite not staying in the hotel. So while standing outside waiting for my ride I noticed in the space of about 20 minutes, 18 people being turned away when they were asked are you staying next, and they say no, and over 40 people get in who weren't asked to provide room numbers and were even allowed in when they said they are NOT staying next door. So, yes very intimidating staff, including the barman from the bottle boy who felt the need to follow me through to the Mayson next door, even when I told him I had a drink at the bar, and had ordered food, ( I had to step out to find a shop ), but when this member of staff followed me to the bar where I had my drink still sitting there covered, and then he turned on sharply, when he realised there was no need to be breathing down my neck like he was. I have stayed and dined in this hotel before, but I shall not be stepping foot in it again because of the quite frankly...
Read moreWas staying at The Mayson and just wanted a cocktail/drink as it was our last night in Ireland. The boys behind the bar made our night. Really fun, made great drinks, and just good banter. We stayed longer than we thought we would because of Dylan, Luciano, and the two other guys (so sorry I can’t remember their names now). This actually saved our evening as we tried to go to the bar on the first floor and were blatantly ignored even though they were quiet. We had sat on the stools at the bar, only a couple of other folks there and the bartenders saw us and didn’t greet when I said hello. I figured they probably just hadn’t heard me but then they continued to walk about the bar and not even make eye contact. We left and decided to just try and have a pint at Bottle Boy. So so so glad we did. Thanks boys!!...
Read moreFantastic spot for a drink close to the 3Arena. My Dad, friend and I were in Dublin for the Iron Maiden gig a few weeks ago and decided to stop in The Bottle Boy for a quick pint before dinner.
The atmosphere in this pub is absolutely fantastic. The staff are genuinely SO friendly, they have a laugh with you and make it such a nice place to be. For the Iron Maiden gig, they were playing lots of Maiden songs, so the place was full of rockers and it felt so much like a pre-show party to me!
The prices were very reasonable too, I paid around £13 for a Guinness and 2 soft drinks which seemed pretty cheap for Dublin, which has the illustrious honour of being one of the most expensive...
