The place would be great because the prices are very good. However good prices come with a huge backside.
The service is usually appalling, due to low attention and skills plus even bad attitude (see below).
Example is this poor pepperoni pizza below from Friday (2023-06-09). Originally we ordered pizza, a burger, other food, drinks and chili on the side. I ordered the chili for my burger, but as there is no option for notes, we added it separately. They put the chili on the pizza for my girlfriend who cannot eat hot things.
We asked the short, dark long beaded haired waitress about what happened and to send the pizza back and get a separate pizza and a portion of chilies on the side for us. In general, this should not be a big issue at a decent place. Then she took it back with not much understanding and brought us this pizza.
When I said that the burger was okay, but this pizza was really plain, her reaction was almost like "Oh well...". Then she stared for a while and left. Did not even offer anything to make it right.
Now:
You should not assume anything for a separately ordered menu item especially not put it randomly on one of the other items of the many from the ordered list.
If you mess something up, a sorry or some understanding would be nice.
When you mess up something and you need to replace items, don't hit back with a laughable pizza like this.
When you cause problems to someone and they point it out, at least try to make it right properly.
Earlier we had other issues too when we needed to wait for them for around 30-40 minutes to clean a table and remove the trashpile, so we can sit. Even though we asked for it nicely multiple times.
I hope the place will improve, because it does not deserve more than 2 stars at this stage. They should pick better quality staff members and chefs.
The only extra star is due to some of the staff members who are actually really nice there.
We will give a few more chances to this place and then if it does not improve, we...
Read moreI had such an outstanding experience in The South Stand that I have to write to voice our appreciation.
I wish to extend our warmest thanks for the outstanding hospitality we received during our Cruise and Hooley day trip to Dublin.
From the moment we arrived at 09.30 on Sunday 24th August, to a warm welcome from ‘Ege,’ the lady manageress, everything exceeded our expectations—the delicious food with free coffee refills, the beautiful setting, and above all the professionalism and diligence of the team in the South Stand. I can only imagine the challenges of serving 51 senior guests swiftly and seamlessly on a busy summers day. Yet the small team handled everything calmly, efficiently, and with such warmth that our members felt truly cared for. Ege must be an incredible asset to any business. Despite multiple and many calls on her attention, she remained calm, smiling and very effective. She even took time to proudly tell me of UK Weatherspoon venues that might suit our needs in the future.
I also wish to acknowledge that what looked effortless on the surface was undoubtedly the result of first-class training and the steady oversight of dedicated leadership in the background. It is a credit to Ege and her colleagues that the service felt both smooth and personal, even under pressure.
The team’s good humour, and professionalism did not go unnoticed, and we are deeply appreciative.
We look forward to returning to the South Stand again in the future, and I will certainly be sharing our glowing experience in my upcoming report for the national magazine and would recommend this venue to all Active Retirement Associations.

Read moreFor those who have experienced a Wetherspoons dining experience I am fairly sure that my experience was the same as yours. However..... This branch of the chain is situated in what I and my husband would describe as the "business quarter" of that there Dublin Town. I say this because where this oasis of "normality" is situated in Dublin is smack bang in the middle of well Not Much really, plenty of student accommodation, business class hotels, the ever increasing building of even more concrete stuff, sadly lacking in character nor just the expected Irish Welcome. The bar itself was packed as to be expected the weekend we travelled, after all Ireland was facing South Africa in rugby, we where unable to gain even a sniff of a pint of Guinness never mind a bit of scoff. Even the outdoor seating area was packed solid with people wrapped up in their winter coats, shouting over the noise of the skateboarding "ediots". We finally felt appeased on our final morning when we visited to beg plead for some decent food, which happily we were provided with and at a decent price, especially compared to most other eateries we had visited. A beautifully cooked breakfast and a cup of never ending Lyons Tea, nice. Sadly as with every other venue I had to reject the first cup due to remnants of LIPSTICK yet AGAIN on...
