A frustrating experience because we wanted to like it yet felt we had good reasons to be unhappy. The service was good if not great and the views were impressive. The food was very overpriced, even for Howth. The pan seared salmon was 30 Euro and overcooked and the 15 Euro pork belly starter was comically small (a little bigger that the size of some restaurants terrine) and compounded by a small portion of anemic salad. That said, the vegetables were beautifully cooked which makes me wonder if they have an excellent vegetarian option. The food also took quite a while to come out. For a restaurant such as this, I would have expected some homemade drinks yet was stuck with the typical selection of Irish minerals. Despite being a restaurant, the toilets have that age old pub feel and the toilet seat in one of the gents cubicles is made of MDF which had expanded and became furry due to dampness. An easy fix yet there it sits, growing more fur as the week pass. Overall, we are unlikely to return as the views cannot compensate for what we consider poor value. If you are going to charge me 45 Euro for a starter and main, the pork belly needs to be at least twice the size which is a reasonable expectation with more apple in the salad and salad in general and the salmon should be a bit bigger and not overdone. As I said, we really wanted to like this experience yet found ourselves...

Firstly the staff that served us and the food that we received were excellent in every way. We were a party of six people with a reservation for 18.30, arriving on time we were shown to our table and given the early bird menu (three courses €29.00). Two of us opted not to have starters, one of those ordered a side of garlic bread. One bottle of house red and one of white wine (€20.00 each as part of the early bird menu). We also had other drinks, tea and coffee. When we received the bill, It was for €333.00 clearly an error as four or five desserts had been charged which were included in the early bird menu. Some of these were then removed and the second bill was for €294.00. It still didn’t seem right so I calculated what I thought it should be. €256.15. I went up to the counter and the waiter got someone else to deal with the issue. He proceeded to alter the details on the POS screen, he presented me with a bill €288.16 to me and asked if that was ok? I replied No! But it will do. As I didn’t want to make a scene and detract more from our evening. He had added a service charge of 12.5% which was not stated on the Early bird menu. I feel that I have been treated unfairly and ripped off. Needless to say that we won’t be returning. I also left a €20.00 tip for the...

Think of a cozy place, with a wonderful views and delicious food, ahhhh and with perfect service. This was our experience at the 30 Church Street restaurant. My niece and her husband, who were living in Howth for a while went to this restaurant and they were really excited to get me for lunch there. Then I saw why! We went on a Saturday for lunch and we already had a reservation. I didn't know whether to eat or just stare at the view outside, of Howth Sea, which looked more like a painting, it was so beautiful. We ordered a few dishes to share and everything was delicious. They have a wood fired pizza that is really really good! The service was excellent and everyone was very attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is truly sensational. If you are visiting the city of Howth, where you can go by train from Dublin city (around 40 minutes by train) try to get a reservation and visit this restaurant, because it's totally worth it. The 30 church Street restaurant it's kind of 8 minutes walking distance from Howth train station. Ah, and seriously, for the quality of the food, service, ambience, the price was totally reasonable. We believe a restaurant like that back in Montreal it will be at least 50% more, with tip and...
