Sadly had a poor experience here after being recommended by a friend. Paid for my sandwich and drink, wasnât aware the drink fridge was self-served until after placing my order. When I got my drink, the young gentleman behind the counter that had initially served me put it through the til without acknowledging me and when I didnât go up to the til afterwards, he assumed Iâd taken a drink without paying and was quite accusatory about it. After explaining Iâd already paid, he proceeded to check the til which is understandable however never acknowledged his mistake or apologised and I had to check that everything was alright before I left. I felt quite upset after the experience and on top of that my sandwich order was incorrect. I wonât be returning. The place has good options if youâre a sandwich fan, the other staff seemed friendly however the young man who served me in future should be more patient with customers and maybe explain how their...
Read moreVisited this shop last Friday and asked for a tray of sandwiches, for a small family gathering. I got an instant refusal from a guy who seemed to be in charge. He gestured at the other three customers, adding, that they were way too busy. A female colleague chimed in, adding that a tray needed to be ordered, a day in advance. I asked if it could be ready for tomorrow, and they all laughed because tomorrow would be Saturday. I was very unpleasantly surprised, at the sandwich shop that couldn't make a few sandwiches or offer to have them ready for collection later that day, as it was around eleven in the morning. After leaving empty handed, I googled and found O'BRIEN'S sandwich shop, at Liosban estate, quite close actually, on the other side of the Quincentenial bridge. They made an assortment tray of sandwiches, while I sat there waiting at one of their tables drinking a delicious coffee. How's...
Read moreI can't believe its taken me so long to write a review for Matt's Sandwiches. This place truly is one of Galway's gems. Which was once Feericks Victuallers butchers, The Art Deco Theme is a beautiful complement to this deli on the corner. Finally somewhere that can make much more then your ham and cheese panini and puro coffee. A fantastic range of sandwiches on offer I must admit I haven't gotten through them all yet. The food is fresh and I haven't even mentioned the coffee yet. The coffee is exquisite not that black charred burnt coffee you find everywhere else. I can't recommend this place enough. Matt is a true gent and is always happy to have a friendly...
