This visit to the Galway Cathedral moved me as the architecture was filled with warm wood ceilings, painted blue sky dome and a pretty rose petal stained glass. I was very moved by the poem of St Therese. I pray for thanks to the warm hearted hospitality from strangers met here on my first trip to Ireland. I pray for peace and human suffering from the people’s history. I also pray for myself, to be brave and give me hope for the future. I am afraid of going back to America, worried about the bullying but please help me to be an arbiter to others and serve others well. The Irish hospitality has shown me that maybe my small little daily act of random kindness can touch & influence something or someone down the line.

So then, The light that l offer Is a little of my time A little of my self Which I leave here in the Shrine of St. Thérése of Lisieux. This lighted candle, which burns brightly, represents My prayer, which I continue As l...

It is dedicated to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and to St Nicholas. Perhaps the single most spectacular aspect of the city’s skyline, Galway Cathedral is hands down one of the most extraordinary buildings in town. A haven of worship, an emblematic landmark and a photographer’s dream, this iconic cathedral has a rich history just waiting to be brought to light. This Cathedral was built by one of the most renowned architects of the time, John J. Robinson. As for the characteristics of this Cathedral, we can find an architecture in which various influences are reflected. A clear example is found in both the columns and the dome, which are in the Renaissance style. The dome is one of the most notable elements of this Cathedral. It is almost 45 metres high and the objective of its construction was clear: to make it a landmark on the very horizon of the Irish city. We cannot fail to mention the numerous mosaics as well as the rose windows that we find in this Cathedral, which take us back to Christian art. A must see if you...
