Made a reservation, got really sick and we had to cancel well in advance of the reservation. I thought their policy of needing 12 hours notice before a cancelation or you get charged 25 euros per head was to discourage no shows. Fine. But to get 4 or more hours notice of a cancelation, during the busy summer months and even trying to rebook if they had an opening (which they didn't because they're so popular) would have been enough.
We tried to talk to them, just the same rude response. That's our policy. Try to talk to the manager and get told there's nobody working who is in charge. On a Saturday night. In July. That's doubtful and if it's true, what a poorly run restaurant. They said they decided to leave the table open. Really? Why? In our honor? Please, they filled it in two seconds and if they left it open, that was their choice but I'm guessing they made twice the money on the same table at the same time.
I have told people in tourism I worked with in Ireland and they all said the same thing....I won't be recommending Doyle's to anyone anymore.
If you make a reservation, please make sure you know you won't have anything at all happen to you in the 12 hours leading up to your reservation. So if you have 5pm reservations, you need to know by 5am that morning what is going to happen during those twelve hours. Appalling business practice.
I didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food but the atmosphere from what I heard from family and friends that tried to talk to them, the atmosphere is meh. The only service they experienced was...
Read moreAMAZING food!!!!! We could go on for hours raving about this place's menu. We ordered 2 appetizers, 1) warm goats cheese bruschetta (to die for, while eating it, Anders told me "I like this more than I like you right now", yes. that's how unbelievable it was, multiple layers of food art) and 2) Tomato soup (great consistency, flavor). For the main courses, we ordered 1) Seafood Linguine (the best plate of seafood I have ever had, huge portion size - beware!) and 2) Crab w/ amazing butter sauce. This meal blew us away, and was one we will never forget sharing with one another.
The only reason this restaurant is not getting a 5 is because of the issue we had placing our order. We specifically ordered are meals indicating that we wanted to make sure we were able to place our orders in for the "early bird special", mentioning it to the waitress multiple times, and when the bill came due, we saw that neither of our meals were included on this special. When we inquired about the issue, she apologized saying that the items we ordered were not included on the "early bird special" list, but had failed to mention it to us previously, when she had the opportunity to many times. Other than the pricey bill, we were more than delighted with the awesome food - take a stop here if you...
Read moreDoyle's is one of those places where if you fail to visit when in Dingle... you missed out.
My bride and I came into town from Dublin and they were kind enough to change our reservation last minute from 2 to 4 people. A friend from the past that I hadn't seen in 15-years just happened to be nearby on honeymoon and met up with us. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal and all dishes were fantastic.
We were staying nearby at PAX House and each day we passed by Doyle's on the way home. This was fantastic because we got to end each evening with a wonderful Irish Coffee at Doyle's.
The staff was absolutely incredible. They made for an amazing time each evening and certainly made it memorable for us. We will DEFINITELY be back when visiting...
