We popped in on the wettest most miserable morning in September ... we were honestly like a pair of drowning rats. Coats soaked and jeans wet, we were only outside for 10 mins! The warmest of welcomes awaited .... the pub had only opened as it was 11am and we warmed our souls with irish coffees and baileys coffees because what else is there to do at 11am on a wet day! David made our drinks which were outstanding! We sipped while looking out at the rain as other drowned rats arrived and he greeted them all with the same warmth he showed to us. I completely understand why tour buses of tourists were pulling in on a wet Sunday morning! The cafes were full of gaa players, the staff full of smiles everywhere you went and the Marina Inn serving drinks with enough warmth and friendliness to make the day seem sunny regardless! Not only should you visit Dingle but you should definitely pop in to the Marina Inn for a drink and make sure to have a chat with one of the friendly staff. Take a spin up past the Conor pass afterwards to take a photo of where...
Read moreIt was our first time to eat here and as we walked in a former customer walking out said 'get the hake'. No booking made but a table available for us straight away around 15.45 on a Friday. So to follow advice my husband ordered the pan fried fillet of Hake with creamy mushroom and tarragon sauce on a bed of roasted baby potatoes and steamed vegetables €21.50. He said it was divine and best hake dish he has had. Luckily I got a taste and it lived up to the accolades. I opted for the Seafood Chowder at €10 served with one slice of brown bread. Creamy and plenty of fish and very good. We ordered a half portion of roast turkey and ham with stuffing, mash, vegetables and gravy at €8.50 which we shared between our two aged under 5. This was half portion fed our two generously and was nutritious and filling. We had a bottle of Miwadi for the table at €2 & a pint of Dick Macs at €6.80. Generous portions, fresh fish, good variety to menu, kids menu and good value. Service was very good. Overall: 4.5 stars. Advice:...
Read moreSeveral people (including locals) recommended The Marina Inn for dinner. When we arrived the pub was packed with folks eating, drinking and listening to the traditional quartet play. We were told it could be 45 minutes for a table for two to open, and we figured it'd be a nice wait, even though it was very crowded. It didn't take terribly long to get a couple of pints and we enjoyed a brief conversation with another couple at the bar when the hostess came to tell us a table was open upstairs. I don't think it was even a half-hour wait. At first we were bummed we wouldn't be in the pub, but the dining room was bright (despite mist and fog outside) and pleasant. My husband started with seafood chowder, which he said was tasty. Then he had a sweet and spicy chilli shrimp and vegetables with rice. He said it was a pretty good Asian dish for an Irish pub! I wanted comfort food so I had a nice prosciutto wrapped supreme of chicken with potatoes and vegetables and a light gravy. Our waiter...
