The Bay Restaurant & Take Away — Restaurant in Kenmare Municipal District

We stopped at The Bay for early dinner this evening and it was a really bad experience. It took forever for the waitress to come to our table. I asked for a pitcher with cold water since they don’t serve alcohol, and she said that they didn’t have more pitchers available (?). Why they wouldn’t have as many pitchers as tables, I don’t know. She said she could bring two glasses of water instead. We agreed. She brought them but empty. I also asked about the fish basket: it included fish, prawns, scampi/calamari, salad and chips. I asked about what they meant by scampi since I know it as a dish and in Dublin they are prawns, and the dish already included them according to the menu. She said she didn’t know because she does not eat seafood (?). Even when you don’t eat certain things, as a server you have to have the knowledge of what you serve because it’s your job. Anyhow, I made my choice once she came to clarify that they were shrimp. The dish was bad: nothing was fresh and it was not generous for the price you pay. It included one prawn, one shrimp, two calamari rings and one piece of fish (frozen). The salad was a mini container of something not specified in the menu. Most of the dish were fries. I asked for some garlic sauce and she told me they would charge 2.5 euros extra. People, so yourselves a favor and go...

Had to cancel the order and leave the place as the owner went on to serve food to two other tables which were occupied a good 10 minutes after we’d come in, in spite of taking our order first and later the other tables’ orders. Never to set foot there again. If you’re in for the cold shoulder or to get snubbed, then this is, undoubtedly the right spot.

We, and you know what actually happened. So, give it a rest and don’t lose your hair. Frankly, we all felt that you were being rather difficult .Why?

It was merely a wise decision on our part to leave because we didn’t want to swallow your ‘ mouth-watering’ food hurriedly. We left, but instead of apologizing, you gladly took the money for the cans of cola that you left with us, instantly.However, we left them for you to have. Shame on you. You know it. Find someone else to snub, try to get a hold of yourself, and stop being pretentious.

We visited this restaurant a few years ago and it was good, it must have been under different owners then. So i had a fish basket, most of the fish was very nice, very tender and fresh with crispy delicate batter, but the scampi was frozen. The menu said with chips and salad, I got no salad and the chips are frozen chips, not fresh chips. The waiter had to be reminded to take our drinks order, when he did, he only took the 2 adults, just as he was walking back, we called him and one of the kids got to order hers, the second didn't a chance too, but got to order when the food arrived, why??? It's a fishing town, no excuses for not delivering good fish AND chips. It doesn't take a lot to be good at a...
