Our last visit here was in 2023 and at that point we had been to this restaurant on multiple different occasions. The staff were always friendly and the food was good. However, we went a few days ago and noticed it was extremely quiet, which was unusual as every other time it had always been packed. We went in anyway and immediately when we got seated the staff that we had serving us were extremely stand offish for no reason. We brushed this off as a once off but throughout our time there this stand-offish behaviour continued. They had no problem complaining about customers who had just paid and left because they had a small complaint about their food. Immediately soured our experience as we thought it was very unprofessional to give out about customers IN FRONT of the other customers who were already there. At that point we had ordered so we stayed. The food was only ok. It's obvious that between this visit and our last visit in 2023 something changed as not only had the staff changed in attitude but the atmosphere and quality of food had also changed. We will not be coming back and advise other people...

Definitely a 5 star. We went with our 18 month old daughter after being to 2 other restaurants and being so let down with being ignored for 20 min and leaving and put into a squashed booth with the other. No consideration at all for our needs. We thankfully went to Caragh regretting that we didnt waste time and went there first. The food was outstanding. So wholesome for our daughter and myself as a vegan with the vegan stir fry was outstanding and it's so hard to find somewhere where you leave so happy. The Turkey n ham was so soft and delicious and my daughter loved also. This restaurant needs more than a 5* with the lovely lady that served us. So clean, so friendly and the food, oh my God, we will be back. I loved it and I work in hospitality, ye all deserve a massive high 5. Thank you for working so hard and giving us a...

This is a gem of an eatery. Great service, decent prices and completely delicious home cooked food. No picky gastro pub micro portions here - Generous plates of Irish beef stew, fish pie, lamb shank, cottage pie. Simple food maybe, but our beef stew was cooked to perfection - a sixteen euro bargain!

If the main was good cooking at its best the Aran Isa was a triumph. What the hell is Aran Isa? You may well ask.

A mix of generous chunks of smoked and fresh fish on garlic bread flavoured with the juice of the house chowder, covered in a white wine and cream sauce and topped with melted cheddar.

This was a starter from heaven -va bit of classy invention from "the boss" - it sang with garlic and umami and was one of the best dishes I've...

As we peered at the menu in the window, we asked a man leaving what the food was like and he replied “good, really good”. We were hungry, it was 1 January so not a lot was open so in we went. And he was right. The food is good, really good. I had the lamb shank - a substantial amount of tender, juicy meat falling off the bone, lots of naturally sweet carrots, some beans, stuffing and turnips/swedes (not sure which - I’m not partial to either so didn’t try these), and it comes with two scoops of mash and chunky fries, plus mint sauce. Friendly service, with a quick turn around of orders. Definitely recommend it. NB: The photo doesn’t do it justice. I had already started eating too so this isn’t a fair representation of how it arrived.

Very mid experience, almost a tourist trap feeling. Food was okay but nothing to write home about. We had the Irish stew, steak, and veggie soup. However, thoroughly unimpressed with the service quality. We were served by a senior waitress, who seemed like either a supervisor or manager. She could not have shown less care to us, starting from tossing the menus on the table, stepping on my feet, to, basically, expecting us to take care of ourselves. And to fish for tips after it all. The atmosphere is okay but given the abundance of other places in the area, I wouldn't return.

If you need to eat gluten free, this is a great place. They have fantastic food and are safe for gluten free eaters. The gluten free apple pie is the best thing on the menu. It is spongy, light and more like a pastry. The best main courses we had were the beef stew and cottage pie Shepard’s pie). The turkey stuffed with ham, Hake, and burger were also great. Veggie soup and Caesar salad were great starters. Great service. They don’t take reservations so you may have to stand in line during the busy times. It is worth the wait.
