I rarely write reviews—especially about restaurants, unless I feel it is genuinely necessary. In this case, I believe it’s only fair to inform others and help them avoid what turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in years. Without exaggeration, this was the worst Thai restaurant I’ve ever visited. We ordered three starters: Thai Chilli Prawns, Thai Calamari, and Thai Spicy Potatoes. The calamari and prawns were both smothered in an excessively thick batter—greasy, heavy, and entirely devoid of finesse. The prawns came drowning in an overwhelming amount of sugary sweet chilli sauce, turning what should have been a vibrant, spicy dish into something borderline inedible. It’s genuinely baffling how something so simple could be made so unappetising.
The main course was a so-called “chargrilled” duck. What arrived was a fatty slab of meat buried under a flood of sauce. The skin wasn’t grilled or crispy—just limp, greasy, and saturated with what tasted like industrial-grade glutamate. I could barely finish three or four bites before my stomach began to protest. My companion ordered Bpet Pad Kra Prow. The rice served alongside was a poor excuse for sticky rice—dry, bland, and clumped in all the wrong ways. We left most of the food uneaten.
For drinks, we ordered iced lemon tea, only to be served two plastic bottles—no mention that this would not be a freshly prepared beverage. Disappointing, to say the least. The final touch? A visit to the bathroom, which was, frankly, appalling. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in weeks. I will leave the decoration out. The bill came to €67. Not a cent of that was left as a tip. Within 600 metres of leaving, my digestive system made a dramatic protest of its own. It still puzzles me how this place has such a high rating. Killarney has many fine options—but if you’re craving Thai, do yourself a...
Read moreOrdered the red curry with crispy duck, pad Thai, pad see ew, Tom yum goong and the Thai calamari. So maybe around this area there isn’t a lot of Thai places so this is the “IT” place so that’s why people like it? But where I come from, the competition is more fierce and more choices are available. I also get it and understand that sometimes ingredients are just hard to come by where you are, so I get it if some tastes are off. No I am not complaining about that at all, I am not complaining a Thai place that doesn’t put peanuts or fish sauce in their pad Thai or Tom yum goong has no flavor, no, I am not complaining about that, I am complaining about, everything is SO salty!! The pad see ew was globbed with this thick, I want to say dark soy sauce? The pad Thai had no egg and again, salty! The calamari, I can’t taste the calamari but I do taste the salt. The red curry I can barely taste the coconut and the curry is so thick. The curry should be smooth, silky and while it’s thick enough to be able to coat a spoon, it shouldn’t be so thick to be like gravy and top of that it’s so salty! The only thing that was not salty was the...
Read moreWe recently dined here and found the experience a mix of highs and lows. The wait staff deserves full credit—they were friendly, and professional. Unfortunately, the food itself was much saltier than expected, to the point where it overwhelmed the other flavors.
When we politely mentioned this, instead of addressing our concern, the owner/manager became defensive. She first suggested that we had added fish sauce with chili to our dishes, making them salty—something we had not done. She then explained that Thai cuisine uses fish sauce and therefore has a distinctive taste, which we certainly understand, but this explanation did not account for the excessive saltiness we experienced. To make matters worse, she pointed out that hundreds of other reviews had praised the restaurant and claimed that no one else had ever raised the issue. She concluded by telling us she could not issue a refund—even though we never asked for one.
In short: excellent service staff, but disappointing food and a very unprofessional interaction with the owner. A little more openness to customer feedback would...
