This restaurant is strategically located and definitely has the potential to attract a lot of footfall. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations. From the start, many of the items we asked for were unavailable, which was disappointing. When we inquired about the fish curry, we were told it was served at lunch and they'd need to “check with the chef” — in hindsight, that should’ve been a sign. What was eventually served felt more like leftovers, with a very small portion that didn’t justify the price. One of the more surprising moments was being charged $3 for a tiny bowl of plain rice, especially since most restaurants serve rice complimentary with curry dishes. The garlic naan was tough and lacked softness, making it far from enjoyable. The Chettinad chicken curry didn’t resemble anything close to what you’d find in India — it was another letdown. That said, there were a couple of redeeming dishes: ✅ The chicken kotthu paratha was flavorful and satisfying, especially with the curry it came with. ✅ The biryani wasn’t the best in terms of flavor, but the meat was well-cooked, and the portion size was fair — unlike many of the other items. ✅The best filter coffee in town but that is also because dairy in Ireland is the best. To end the meal, we tried a staff-recommended dessert, Jigarthanda, which unfortunately didn’t feel worth the price or hype. All in all, this place might have promise, but inconsistencies in availability, portion size, and quality really impacted our experience. Hopefully, they take this feedback seriously and work on turning things around.

Popular South Indian restaurant chain opened recently in Dublin. Went there expecting authentic flavours - probably found it to be somewhere in the middle, authentic but also a bit toned down for the location. Was disappointed to find out that the meals/thali is only available until 5pm and also that none of the fish delicacies were available. What we ate: - Prawn masala was nice and felt authentic. - Special mutton biryani (short grain rice) was flavourful and had a good balance of spices and rice. - Jigathanda drink was nice. - medu vada was ok, not crispy enough for my liking - Chicken dum biryani was not great, lacked flavours and chicken was overcooked. Basmati rice didn’t pair with the chettinad flavours. - Special ghee podi dosa was decent, not too heavy and served with a variety of simple chutnies and sambhar. - Veg kothu paratha was bland, despite our request to make it spicy. - Gobi 65 was crispy and flavourful but a bit under seasoned. - Paneer 65 had a very thin coating so it seemed to absorb more oil and less flavourful than gobi 65 - Filter coffee was a bit too sweet and more milky, could barely taste the coffee. Overall the food served was lukewarm, might have tasted better had it been served piping hot. The staff were friendly and courteous. It’s a big space so they’ve plenty of seating, but it was almost filled to capacity, would recommend booking in advance, atleast until the initial rush to try out the new place settles. Prices are on par with most other Indian restaurants in Dublin. The only thing I felt that was overpriced was the veg kothu paratha.

I will never visit this place again. Our experience started poorly when the lady taking our order insisted we order appetizers because the main course would take time. However, the main course items arrived before the appetizers, and when the appetizers finally came, they tasted stale. The so-called "Indian Chinese" dishes were just regular Indian food — not even close to authentic Indo-Chinese flavors. The paneer was tough like a rock, and the chicken was completely overcooked. To make matters worse, the main course was served in parts: some of us received our dishes along with the appetizers, while others had to remind the staff multiple times that we were still waiting. When the missing dishes finally arrived, they were extremely disappointing — the "mutton curry" was more like a watery coconut broth with just four small boneless pieces of meat, despite the menu mentioning bone-in mutton. When we asked to cancel the delayed dishes, we were told they would be packed for takeaway instead. However, when we went downstairs to collect it, the food had not been prepared at all. We requested a cancellation, but the staff seemed completely clueless about how to process a refund. Overall, if I could rate the experience, it would be a 0/10. The food was terrible, and the service was equally bad. Definitely NOT worth a visit

I am writing to share our extremely disappointing experience during our recent visit to your restaurant on the evening of 27th April 2025. My wife and I had been looking forward to this meal, especially after having thoroughly enjoyed your San Francisco outlet a few weeks earlier and also from Hong Kong & Chennai before. Unfortunately, our experience at the Dublin location was far below expectations in both service and food quality.

Here are the key issues we encountered:

Initial Reception: Despite clearly visible empty tables, we were told there were none available and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. This felt disingenuous and set a poor tone for the evening.

Service Delays: After being seated, it took another 10 minutes to receive menus, with no explanation or apology from the staff.

Unavailable Items: We initially tried to order the ‘Fish Meals’ and ‘Vanjaram Fish Fry (King Fish)’, both of which were “sold out.” If an item is unavailable, it should be clearly marked on the menu or informed upfront—not discovered only when we attempt to order.

Starters Disappointment: We ordered Calamari Roast (€17.95), Chilli Prawn (€12.95), and Gobi 65. The calamari and prawn dishes were grossly overpriced for the quantity and quality served—truly a disappointment. The Gobi 65, ironically the only dish we enjoyed, arrived after our mains were served, defeating its purpose as a starter.

Main Course Issues: The Seeraga Samba Mutton Biryani and Chettinad Chicken Dum Biryani were served cold. Moreover, our server brought the food without placing plates on the table. When asked for plates, he brought just one and asked whether we needed another for my wife—something that should be obvious at a dine-in restaurant.

Drinks Delay: We had ordered a Mango Lassi and Fresh Lemon Soda to be served after the meal. Post-dinner, we had to wait 10–15 minutes before a staff member even checked on us. The Mango Lassi finally arrived, but we had to wait even longer for the Lemon Soda, which, when it did arrive, had no taste of lemon and felt like sweetened soda water.

Positives: The Gobi 65 and Mango Lassi were the only redeeming items we had. Everything else failed to meet even basic expectations—cold food, poor sequencing, inattentive service, and unjustifiable pricing.

We were charged €80 for this experience, and frankly, the meal wasn’t even worth half of that. I would have been more than happy to pay that amount if the food and service had lived up to your brand’s reputation.

This experience was not only a letdown but also a stark contrast to the high standards set by your San Francisco, Hong Kong and Chennai restaurants. We will not be returning to Anjappar Dublin and will not recommend it to others either.

I hope you take this feedback seriously and look into the issues raised—especially around staff training, menu transparency, food quality, and basic...

I dined here on Saturday evening with a friend of mine, we didnt book a table but we were given a table as a walk in right away which we were delighted about however that is where the experience of the restaurant changed. The place was really busy which we thought was good to see as it was alot of the Indian community which we liked as we said it they are eating there the food must be good.

Service really was not good we asked the server for help with the menu because the food was totally different to what we would normally get & it was explained to us that the food was from a certain region so you wouldnt get dishes like Madras, Bhuna etc which was fine but the server told us that she wasnt from that region so couldnt really help us choose a dish as she didnt understand alot of the menu herself. We ordered starters and mains and only one starter was brought out and one drink, when we pointed this out we were told we didnt order a second starter which we did, then all of the food started to come out together starter and mains, I pointed out that we didnt want this as the mains would be cold by the time we go to eat them and also we wanted a break in between courses but they didnt listen to us and out it all came with very little room on the table. I ordered chips with my main and said I didnt want rice but they brought out rice and chips with chicken nuggets and red sauce ! I again pointed out I didnt want nuggets which by the way where really cheap looking and not something I would want a child eating, I was told that they dont just do a portion of chips and also that because the kitchen was busy chef said to bring out all the food.

My mains was so spicy and I could only eat a small bit and I was confused because the server asked me did I want it mild or spicy and I said mild, the samosas were greasy and served on diced onion and they didnt taste nice, the naan bread was greasy too and the whole meal just wasnt nice. Presentation of the food just wasnt great, we also had to ask for extra glasses for our drinks and food is served on like metal plates, look I get its authentic indian cuisine but its just not for me. I think this restaurant will probably do well with the indian community but for me I wont be going again. Another thing that I didnt like is the gangs hanging around the door as you are trying to go in and out as its a bit unsettling especially given the location of the restaurant which can be a little trouble some at night. I do hope the restaurant does well but I will be going back to other indian restaurants in...

We recently visited Ireland from the UK to see our family and were excited to try Anjappar Chettinad Indian Restaurant after seeing some great videos and reviews online. The restaurant looked very promising, showcasing many special dishes that caught our attention — dishes we don’t usually find elsewhere.

We called the restaurant to book a table but were told they were fully booked for the day. Thinking it must be very popular, we booked a table for the next day at 1 PM, even adjusting our holiday plans to accommodate the visit.

When we arrived, the welcome was nice, and the atmosphere looked good. We were very excited to try their menu. However, when we started ordering, we quickly became disappointed. Several dishes we specifically came for were not available. For example, we ordered “Coin Porotta,” but they said it wasn’t available and offered regular porotta instead. We tried ordering four different dishes, and none were available. It felt misleading, especially since these special dishes were heavily advertised on their social media.

We still tried to continue with our meal. I ordered a filter coffee — not available. Then we ordered four lime juices — they initially said okay, but five minutes later, they came back to say it’s not available either. At this point, we called the manager and explained our disappointment.

Surprisingly, after we complained, the manager suddenly said they could arrange everything we had originally ordered, including the lime juice and Coin Porotta. It made us feel that they were not honest with customers unless a complaint was made. We understand they were busy, but this approach is not acceptable.

Feeling disappointed and unwelcome, we decided to cancel our order. Although the manager insisted we didn’t have to pay for what we had eaten, we chose to pay the bill and leave.

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. It seemed like the restaurant was more focused on profit and crowd management than customer satisfaction. I would not recommend this restaurant to others based on...
