We go to the Yellow House regularly as it's our local for 30 odd years now. We always order some food when there. This evening we ordered a simple dish of wings with the sauce on the side as we usually do with this dish. But they came wrong, no big deal, kitchens make mistakes and we returned them. They returned with the sauce cooked further into them (popped into the fryer to cook off the sauce? ), they looked and tasted completely different to what we have EVER received before.. We returned them again, to be approached by the owner and chef of the establishment with a single uncooked wing in his hand and a waitress beside him to receive a lecture on the making of the wing. He was not able to understand that the wing and seasonings are lovely and not the issue, especially when cooked as we asked. But the fact they had ruined it with the sauce and then instead of preparing new ones, tried to rectify a 9euro dish by recooking them again. We didn't accept his offer to cook them again, because it came with a caveat that 'he'd come down and stand over us to get our approval'. This is the 2nd time we've ever returned food, we had sent back a pate once that tasted terrible, again he arrived down for a stewards inquiry. His behaviour and rude body language has not turned me off my local but we have certainly decided to boycott his pub food. We took our business to another establishment that night, that cooked the simple dishes as we asked for. If you make a mistake just own up, don't lose customers since you've opened for the...
Read moreOur dinner in early January felt like staff were still recovering from the hectic pre-Christmas season. Considering there were only two or three other tables occupied, service was brusque, bordering on unfriendly. Our first choice of wine was out of stock and advice on an alternative was limited. The starter of black pudding three ways didn’t seem to match the description and the pâté was pleasant but not exceptional. The main course of duck breast was overcooked for my liking and we had not been asked how we liked it cooked, it should be served pink. The venison was delicious which just highlighted the disappointment with the duck. The cheese selection was limited but nice and desserts were fine but without the promised crème anglaise. Coffee was very good. So overall a bit mixed and the quality for the price charged was disappointing. Not the memorable experience we...
Read moreWe celebrated a family birthday in the wonderful Morille's on Saturday and what a fantastic evening we enjoyed. From the moment we arrived we were so well taken care of. A fabulously warm welcome greeted us from all the staff. There was a fantastic sense of fun with all the waiting staff and nothing was too much trouble. Their knowledge of the food and their enthusiasm about the menu and the specials was very refreshing and a credit to the management. We enjoyed one of the best meals that the four of us have ever had. Particular mention for the succulent steak and the new raspberry desert. We could not recommend Morille's strongly enough for fabulous food in a wonderful setting with excellent staff. Thanks to Nicky, Stefano and their attentive staff for taking such good care of us. We shall be back very soon. Best Regards, The...
