With all due respect, I think you are bluffing about us not collecting our food on time. We are always prompt in collecting our food wherever we order because usually when we place it, we are just right outside the restaurant/ cafe. For this specific order, the pick-up time was 20 past five, we were at your door at 18 past five, 2 minutes early.

The carbonara was still piping hot when we ate it and so were the pizza and the steak sandwich. It's the taste of the food really that was the problem. Carbonara is not meant to be extremely greasy. I could tell that you put way too much oil when cooking it, add the natural fat from the pancetta on top of the oil is what made it very, very oily. The base most probably would have been saved, if it was cooked properly but it wasn't. Your steak sandwich was all Naan bread. Believe, me I could go on picking on the taste of the food alone.

On top of that, the way you respond to people here in Google who did not give you good reviews are rude to the point of being nasty. Anyone reading this, go on, scroll to the bad reviews of the business and see how they respond. While customers are not always right, everyone deserves to be treated right even if it's not something you agree. Kindness and politeness can go a long way.

Anyone wanting a good bite in Clonmel, there are plenty of great food around town. You can always go to The Bunker and Befani's, I would highly recommend those places. When Mani opens and you want to do fine dining instead, that one would be a great choice. If you just want coffee and a quick bite, there's always D'Bunked. And they would treat you right as well (I hope, at least I've always had great experience in those places). Edit: I dropped the rating to one from two after reading the nasty comments this business is giving on anyone who doesn't give them a good review. Whoever is moderating this business' social media presence, definitely needs to learn good Customer Service!

I do not like giving bad reviews so most probably I will edit this if I need to in the future. I suppose businesses just like people would have their bad days, so maybe I'd find something nice to say about the food one day. We had a takeaway a few days ago from Galileo. The pizza I'm sorry to say was really not good, never mind the price. A frozen pizza from Dunne's Simply Better brand is 10 times better than what we had. The carbonara was extremely oily. I didn't even try the steak sandwich as the first two I got were manky, but I was told it wasn't any good either. Before the lockdown we had a meal at the restaurant. While the food wasn't exactly fantastic still, their customer service was awesome. I really hope they can start doing real Italian cooking as...

Ridiculously Expensive for Families/Groups.

We wanted to go out as a family group of 6 to mark 2 birthdays that week. Owing to the timing, we had little choice but Galileo in Clonmel. Initial impressions were good. The restaurant was clean, spacious, warm, well presented and modern. The staff were attentive. We got a shock however when we found that because we were a group of 6, we were each required to pay €38 minimum for a two-course meal. We should have just left at that point but it would have spoiled what was supposed to be a happy treat for 2 of our party. It was not possible to order a single dish or go à la carte like other diners beside us in smaller groups. Over €40 for a pizza, a dessert and 1 soft drink left a sour taste in the mouth. We’ve eaten out over a dozen times in nice restaurants around Ireland in 2022 and this was the most expensive meal we had by far – and there was nothing special about the food. Galileo’s relieved us of a quarter of a thousand euro in the space of about 1hr. I’ll not darken their door again. Just adding to my review in response to a reply from the owner. I acknowledge that you are subject to rising costs but why penalise families especially? I feel it is very unfair to a require a family group to pay approximately twice the price for the same food as a person sitting at...

I dined here last night, with a group of 3 others, my first time since they moved here from their old premises which I frequented often.

The interior and seating are of a very good standard. The waiting staff are pleasant and courteous. The bring your own wine is also a nice touch.

The food while a little over priced is of a very good standard, let’s be clear here, the building is in a very good location on the main high street, and I am sure the rent & rates are also of a high price, when you factor this aswell as the over all high cost of being in business in clonmel, it is my opinion that Galileo are offering very good value for money. People should factor this in when deciding what is good / not so good value.

With small businesses closing all over the town leaving vacant properties we should embrace and enjoy the few good restaurants we have left!!

The food is fresh hot and very tasty, and it is as good as you’ll get in Italy any day.

I would recommend a visit to Galileo for a meal with friends and family.

I know I will be back.

Well done to the owner/ manager, & all staff, as a small local bussiness owner myself I know completely how hard it is to try to please everyone. And these guys are doing a great job. So credit...

I’m honestly so disappointed. I grew up loving this place and was excited to come back after two years away, especially to share it with my fiancée for a date night. Unfortunately, the experience was such a letdown. We arrived around 6 and, while we were seated right away (the restaurant was completely empty), things quickly went downhill. I ordered the spaghetti Bolognese, a classic I remember enjoying here before, but it arrived watery and tasted more like an airplane meal than something you’d expect from a restaurant. My fiancée ordered the Alfredo, and as a chef himself, he immediately said it was definitely not Alfredo. He also noticed an unpleasant aftertaste he couldn’t quite place. The garlic bread with cheese was decent—probably the best part of the meal—but even the water tasted off, like dirt. On top of that, the service was almost nonexistent; we were barely spoken to during the entire meal. This used to be a place I loved, but sadly, it’s not the same anymore.

Lovely clean restaurant. Very open and spacious. Food was cooked fresh and was delicious. We shared a pizza and pasta dish and it was the best pizza we have had. Crispy base and not at all greasy. The pasta had plenty of sauce and chicken. The desserts looked lovely. My husband had a lemon meringue and I had chocolate brownie. I was a little disappointed with the brownie, it was a little dry. But the presentation of desserts was lovely. Will return again to try a different topping on the pizza. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Just one point I need to address, the menu on the website is not necessarily the same as in the cafe. I was looking forward to having the calamari for starters but it was not on the menu in the cafe. I did mention this to the waitress and she said they have taken that off as they can't always get calamari. Just something to be aware of.
