The Hub — Restaurant in The Borough District of Clonmel

Every time I travel to Clonmel I just have to call into The Hub. The food is delicious, great service and fantastic atmosphere. Today I was fortunate to call as it was the second anniversary of its opening. Wow. What a display of delicious treats for the public today, diet went out the window :) Gorgeous chocolate, almond cakes, meringue roulade, white chocolate treats, I was so glad I called. I wanted to thank the organisers but they seemed so busy. So I wish to say thank you so much and wishing The Hub continued success. Called there again today, I made my way down to the toilet, asked a worker for the code to enter. She rudely told me the code was on the receipt that my husband had back at the front of cafe. A man sitting nearby asked me enquiring and offered me his code from his receipt, it saved me the trip back to my husband. Anyway his code didn't work so I had to find my husband who was now outside waiting for me, he told me he had left his receipt on the tray which was now gone. I had to queue at counter again and the girl at counter told me the code was on the receipt, I explained the story so she printed me a new code. I understand people coming off the street using the toilet can be a problem but surely customers should be looked...

The Hub is an awesome place right in the centre of Clonmel and i would highly recommend the menu and the service. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is excellent. It is a very busy place and the staff all work extremely hard to provide an excellent service with a smile even when sometimes they encounter a demanding and unreasonable customer. The hours are long and tiring yet they always greet you with good humour and a very friendly demeaner. This enhances the the most relaxing and social atmosphere which I enjoy thoroughly. All the staff especially Catalina set a very high standard and i personally visit my favourite spot the " for sale " window 🤣 to meet friends and family. In fact looking around I see many other regulars who obviously enjoy The Hub. This in itself is a reflection of the positive friendly atmosphere. Sadly i have personally witnessed a very small number of customers who unfortunately are never happy and have been unreasonably abusive to staff. The very vast majority of regular customers are not of this negative nature and i am sure they would join me in congratulating the team at The Hub for a great service. The staff are usually relatively nice and helpful.

But I rated them 3 stars because of a bad experience I had today. I paid for a Cinnamon Bun and a cup of tea and asked if I could come back for it later after work.

Due to some personal stuff happening and my own ADHD getting in the way, I forgot to pick it up. I came back up to claim it this morning.

And asked as nicely as I could if I could have it now instead or if it was too late. The lady said no, I said okay and walked out defeated since I don't want to argue with her and make a scene.

I was not even offered a refund on the money I spent either even though, the tea or cinnamon bun was likely never prepared anyway.

I am a firm believer of voting with my wallet and will likely never shop there again, they are quite overpriced anyway. And most of this stuff can be had for a similar quality...
