I paid a visit to this museum as a part of a college day trip, and needless to say it was a truly remarkable experience. Upon entering, I mentally noted how well-structured the museum was, making it easy to follow without it becoming obviously distracting, which added a sense of natural flow to the whole walkthrough. Personally, the constructed sets were my favorite part of the museum, as I found them deeply immersive. Antique technology, old furniture, it felt as though we were stepping backwards in time, and for a historical museum, it added an additional layer of depth. I also enjoyed the narrative storytelling, which was portrayed through the combination of displayed items and written plaques.

Fascinating photo exhibition of John D. Kelly’s work over the last 40 years, “Visual Emotion.” The display documents the highest of highs, featuring winning matches across the years, to the dire times of the Covid-19 pandemic, while exploring the habitual and mundane lives of Clonmel’s citizens. A particular quote written below the display caught my attention, “we take pictures to stop time.” In an era that’s advancing so fast, so caught up in innovations and inventions, it can feel as though time is blurring by. These historical photos, displayed in a modern fashion through projectors and TV screens, combine past and present in a wonderful exhibition, which captured my attention throughout.

Visiting Tipperary Museum of Hidden History was a captivating experience that takes visitors on an exciting journey through the history of Tipperary. From photography displays to murder stories, the museum has something for everyone, offering a thoughtful perspective on the culture of Tipperary. The museum keeps its visitors curious by letting them interact with many pieces, such as boxes you can open, a wired telephone and an old television. The chairs placed throughout the place were also a great touch as they invite visitors to take their time, rest and think about what they saw.

I visited the museum as a part of my collage module. When entering the museum the staff were really friendly and welcoming. When entering the exhibition the first section was composed up of the photography work done by John D. Kelly. This included black and white prints of his work (including digital displays). Past this section, the museum consists of many historical artifacts such as old phones, letters, guns and uniforms. However I paid more attention to John D. Kelly's work as that was the focus of my visit, which included the wall mounted prints, the digital displays and a room with a projector showing coloured photographs.

The assignment required to make sketches of some of the photographs and explore the common themes and emotions captured in the photos and their meaning.

I would definitely recommend people visit this museum if they visit Clonmel as it is a great collection of artifacts...

Excellent museum with many interesting exhibits and artifacts. It is an attractive and well laid out building. Very industrious and helpful staff. What I enjoy most are the history lectures on the 1st Saturday of each month. There are other events scheduled and advertised locally. The museum is very conveniently situated, near the library, the swimming pool, council offices and the post office - easy to find and well worth a visit😊 This museum has been updated and improved with a with a new layout and fantastic exhibits presented in a very attractive way. There are many interactive features, appealing to a wider audience. It is a ‘must see’ in Clonmel. Allow 60 to 90 mins. You won’t be...
