All the plates went back empty!
Myself and my fiancĂŠe decided we'd give IL Forno a try Saturday evening after passing it while in town during the week.
I made a reservation and I'm glad I did cause the place got very busy and they stuck to their reserved tables which was nice to see, there weren't many casual drop ins having success getting seated, so make a reservation and don't miss out!
The decor of the restaurant is very nice. It's got a classic new york meets Italian vibe going and the neon red sign gives the whole front half of the restaurant a lovely ambiance. The place looks like a movie set and I love it.
The staff are very attentive without being overbearing, we felt they were only ever a glance away without them being on top of us which we appreciated.
The menu had a very good selection of Italian dishes from pixxastto pastas.
I went for the meatballs and she had the prawns to start. The meat on both was wonderfully tender and the sauces we haven't has as nice since we were in lake garda.
For mains I had the spagetti csrbonara and she had the spianci with added chicken pizza both were delicious. She couldn't finish the last slice and they offered to wrap it for her which I thought was a very nice touch.
For desert we shared a raspberry cream cake and I'm glad we did cause it was a very generous portion. But it was beautifully light I'd highly recommend it!
She had a flat white coffee to finish I was just too full.
All of the above along with three diet cokes came to a total of âŹ62.00 which for the centre of drogheda on a Saturday night I can't see much wrong with.
IL Forno has instantly become our new favourite place in drogheda. We'll definitely be back for another dinner (or two) and we're looking forward to trying out its breakfast / lunch menus.
It's given us a reason to go back into the town of drogheda.
The only slight negative I could think of is that there's only one male toilet and in an establishment this big they could really use two or three but that's the only slight blemish in an otherwise...
Read moreI visited the restaurant on the 14/07/24 Sunday afternoon. It wasnât too busy. Prior to arriving I called to see if there was any availability of tables as I was a walking in. The lady that answered the phone said that yes I could come and there would be tables available. So my partner, his cousin, and I went to to the restaurant. Upon arrival we waited to be seated and a very nice lady told us we could have a seat in the meantime she would get the menu for us. So we proceed to do this, however, another very rude waitress I might add stopped us in our tracks and questioned why we where sitting down and asked if we had a booking. I proceeded to explain that we had already spoken to another waitress and she told us we could have a seat. After this conversation she returned to our table minutes later to take out order. Still very rude, I informed that I didnât not what any sauce on my order and my parter re-confirmed saying âso just to make sure no Sauce on that orderâ the waitress proceed to say âyeah thatâs what she just saidâ again in a very rude and disrespectful maner. So we tried to ignore and get on with our dinner. To our suprisse she sent us 2 garlic breads ratter than 1 which was what we requested and guess what she brought sauce along with my order which I specifically said I didnât want. This had already ruined our dinner, and throughout the dinner she kept coming up to us and questioning if we were finished. I have dined here many times before and I love the food, the atmosphere, and the staff. I believe this waitress might be a new addition to the team and I just wanted to add this constructive criticism so that this doesnât happen to any...
Read moreFirst and last time at this restaurant. I wanted to try it for a long time, and unfortunately I was left feeling very disappointed. Went to il forno at lunch time on Saturday. It was around 13, there were only few tables occupied. We ordered 3 started to begin with, but the startes took 40 minutes to arrive so we decided to not have the main, and we left after we ate the starters. The restaurant got busy while we were there and we noticed other people being served ahead of us and also different menus being handed out while we only had one. It looked like there were breakfast options, wraps and sandwiches on those menus as people around us were eating them. I wonder if there was a lunch menu cheaper than the restaurant menu we got? We spoke Italian going inside, did they think we were tourists and didn't bother giving us the other menus... I'm not sure. Food wise the portion were quite small for the price. 32 euro for 3 starters, bruschetta, arancini and squid rings. Food arrived to our table just warm. I can't say was authentic italian either. The restaurant inside is designed nicely, and that is, I'm afraid, my...
