When you order food online you hope for a delicious, freshly cooked meal delivered to your door. You do not however expect to witness a first-hand demonstration of the space-time continuum breaking down.
We ordered at 6.30 and the food arrived at 9.25.That’s 3 hours. But here’s the interesting bit, when we we rang to check in where our delicious, freshly cooked meal was at 8.45pm it was apparently ‘out for delivery and would arrive in 5 mins’ but it actually arrived 45 mins later.
Now the sceptic in me would say that I was told a flat-out lie and that our food hadn’t even been cooked. But the optimist in me thinks that the Shimla kitchen operates in a different dimension where their 5 minutes is actually our 45mins. Step inside their kitchen and test for yourself, just watch out for the owner (he doesn’t like customers so I’d stay out of his way).
We rang again and this time, after the first person I spoke to was unavailable, (I think she had maybe fallen into a worm hole and couldn’t get back to earth), we were told that the food would be 15 mins max and was out for delivery - it actually arrived 35mins later. Now the sceptic in me would say that again, this was a lie and the food was still nowhere near our coveted brown bag. The optimist in me however thinks that Shimla are maybe not of this earth and their concept of time is not analogous to ours.
It must be, because the same thing happened the last two occasions, most notably one New Years Eve when we waited for 4 hours and ended up eating toast to soak up the beer while we waited. Again, in Shimla’s world, ‘it was on the way’. Great lads those time travellers.
Anyway, what was the food like?
Average at best. Bland at worst. There are better Indian restaurants in Kilkenny where you’ll get your food within 1 hour of ordering (like most delivery options). But you won’t get to have a brush with the Shimla time...
Read moreWorst customer service ever seen in Indian Restaurant. No water was served for 15 mins even after asking twice. 2.My food was taken taken away from table even when I did not finish it. Manager was rude, more than food the mood was spoilt . I didn't enjoy the food at all We were three people, but only one place was given to me. Then when I asked again, they gave one more plate. Price looks fine on menu, but when I went in they said you have to take sunday special lunch. I mean WTF, i want to eat what i want to eat. But I was getting late for bus, had no choice but to go with that option.
I wouldn't...
Read moreThis used to be our go to but lately we have been extremely disappointed. We dined in and they took our order for drinks and walked away despite the fact we were ready to order food too. We were then left waiting 10-15 mins for the popadoms to come out, they had forgotten. After paying we then realised, we had been over charged 20 euro as they charged us for a la carte instead of the early bird menu that we had ordered from. A couple of weeks later we ordered a takeaway and when it came there was a meal missing. They were quick to amend this but the bhuna was extremely oily and not how it usually is. Not sure we...
