An Poc Fada — Local services in The Municipal District of Kilkenny City

Had a hotel booked with my girlfriend in Kilkenny for Saturday night. Went for a nice meal and went to Left Bank for a while. We weren’t quite enjoying it there so decided to come here for a better time. Terrible idea. Myself and my girlfriend were standing outside deciding whether to go in or not and then decided we would. The man working there off the bat told me my girlfriend was “loaded” and wouldn’t let us in. I questioned him on this as neither of us had even drank much at this point. He then proceeded to tell me I was “loaded” before walking back inside. He couldn’t look either of us in the eye when talking, extremely cowardly. The other bouncer was extremely apologetic when this rude man walked back in as she could very much see we were fine and just looking to have a nice time. This rude man very clearly has a power trip about him and I would highly not recommend heading here if you want to have a nice time. Had planned to go to a different restaurant but ended up here instead. Really wanted spare ribs. There were 2 stag/hen groups there but they were not loud. Plenty of empty tables ( Saturday afternoon so quite early ) Ordered the slow cooked pork belly ribs starters. Glad I didn’t order it as a main course as it was very fatty ( it is pork belly so that’s quite normal ). Not my kind of ribs. Main course was the sirloin steak and that just melted in my mouth. Very nice. Pepper sauce tasted homemade and was good. Washed it down with a nice cool Heineken 0%. Service was good, sometimes too quick with collecting the plates. An Poc Fada was the only bar in all of Kilkenny to accept our booking for cocktail making for a smaller group, everywhere else was minimum 10 which was a pain. The entire experience from booking with Lisa to making cocktails with Carl was impossible to fault! Carl was funny, sound and we actually learned a lot. At one point a couple of lads who had way too much to drink were bothering us and the girls behind the bar kept asking if we were okay and Carl came over when we appeared to be uncomfortable and told the lads our class was beginning even though it was over so they'd leave us...
