My favourite bar in Clonakilty, the staff are so sound and really make you feel welcome. Their food is fantastic with creative menus. They do a small but nice selection of craft beers and wines in bottle and on tap and the staff are always willing to give you a taste before you decide what to have. One of the best features is their fantastic well heated beer garden that is full of character. The clientele are young and old and mix well so everyone will feel welcome no matter what your age. If you visit Clonakilty then you really should pay Scannells a visit. I recently had a delightful lunch of fresh seafood chowder which was better than most I've had. The selection of fish in the chowder was fantastic. I had a gourmet sandwich of smoked Ummera chicken with brie and basil pesto which was delicious. Both were on the lunch menu for only €11 which was...

Stopped in here for lunch on the recommendation of the lady at Clonakilty Distillery and boy did they not disappoint! My father, brother and I all ordered the Scannells filet steak sandwiches and they were THE best steak sandwiches we've ever had. Big chunks of amazingly seasoned and perfectly medium cooked steaks with an INCREDIBLE mushroom cream sauce and fried onion straws all on a perfectly fluffy roll. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! The entire staff was amazing and so kind and the restaurant itself was so adorably quaint and welcoming. My family ordered deserts which they said were not only delicious but the presentation was gorgeous as well. I wish I lived there so I could have a steak sandwich every day! Thank you Scannells team! You...

Scannell's Bar in Clonakilty was a highlight of our trip! It’s a warm, welcoming pub with a relaxed atmosphere that’s surprisingly great for kids—we all felt completely at ease. The food was delicious, especially the local dishes, and the cozy beer garden was perfect for unwinding. Ruben, our waiter, treated us incredibly well—friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. We even met a lovely couple, Carrie and Jeff and ended up chatting for ages, which made the experience even more memorable. Scannell’s isn’t just a pub—it’s a true West Cork gem filled with good vibes and...

Scannell’s Pub in Clonakilty was a standout. The food is clearly made with care — the soup was incredibly fresh, rich in flavor, and comforting without being heavy. The fish and chips were a highlight: crisp, perfectly cooked, and you could taste the freshness in every bite. Simple dishes, done exceptionally well. Warm atmosphere, great service, and real attention to quality. A definite must-stop in Clonakilty. I had Fish & Chips 5 times in Ireland — this version was by far and away the best. Perfect place for lunch after the Clonakilty Distillery tour.

Big pub with large outside area way out the back. Would double up well with music or a DJ outside. Here to watch Rugby so didn't eat. Place was very busy and difficult enough to find seats. Biggest issue I had were the toilets. Really small (tiny) for a pub this size with a long wait a regular thing. They were also not well maintained so the bin was overflowing all night and there was a mountain of toilet paper on the floor in the only cubicle! Yes, one cubicle for the whole pub! Not for me, wouldn't go back.
