Hidden jewel in old Jerusalem; It's not very easy to find this tiny restaurant, but definitely worth it! Handmade kebabs and hummus, prepared just after order - fresh and tasty. The most affordable and tasty place to eat within the walls. The beef kabab prepared fresh right before eyes and grilled over coal fire, is simply heavenly! The humus and the finely chopped veg gies salad in a creamy dressing is simply fantastic! When you are in Jerusalem, Al-Baghdadi is a must try place! You cannot leave Jerusalem w/o having eaten at Al-Baghdadi Restaurant. It's open 7 days a week from 9am - 8pm. Now a days they have changed schedule and on Mondays they remain open, When planning to visit on Monday do inquire first on their number +972 2-627-6812 How to reach: As the Bab Hutta St is not to be found anywhere on Google, simply enter the Lions Gate and walk straight. The first street to your right is Bab Hutta St. Once Bab Hutta St, walk straight and look for the sign Al-Baghdadi Restaurant. When you come from Via Dolorosa, Bab Hutta St is on your left before you exit the Lions Gate.

This was a cozy and intimate restaurant with limited seating. I visited this restaurant during lunchtime with two other companions, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. The standout dish for us was the hummus, which we all agreed was the best we had tasted in Jerusalem. The food was not only delicious but also affordable compared to other restaurants we visited during our trip. One thing to note is that they only accept cash payments, no credit cards. However, this shouldn't deter you from trying out this gem of a restaurant! Overall, if you're in Jerusalem and looking for a tasty and budget-friendly meal, I would definitely recommend giving Al-Baghdadi Restaurant a visit.

Surprised that there are so few reviews after that Mark Weins exposure. I was looking forward to this place for a long time...and it didn't disappoint. It nearly did though as we showed up twice on a day when they weren't open. Thankfully, they were opened later in the week because it's not a straightforward restaurant to locate. Refer to the GPS coordinates posted in an earlier comment. The uncle is now in his mid 80s and no longer cooks, but his son has taken over. The best hummus and kebabs we tasted in Jerusalem! It's a small restaurant and the variety is small, but whatever they have, is EXCELLENT! Value priced too.
