Food was meh at best. Seems more touristy than authentic. There are excellent stickers posited on the door, I saw stickers for 2014, 2015, 2016 but nothing for 2017. The quality has certainly gone downhill. The hummus was bland, chickpeas had a weird chemical taste. Babaganoush was mediocre. Falafel tastes boring without any real flavor. The only saving grace is the pomegranate juice - that was the only thing that was excellent.
On another side note, my throat started swelling up and itching by the time we settled the bill. This was my first meal of the day so there was nothing else that would have triggered a reaction. I’ve had excellent hummus at Abu Hasan in Tel Aviv and Hakosem. And falafel - nothing has triggered a reaction in my throat. There was probably definitely some weird chemical in the food.

Read moreKnew it when it was less famous, and I keep returning. The place hasn't changed all that much, staff is the same and so is the great hummus. You do see more tourists then in the past but no groups (rarely small groups) No doubt, a friendly hospitibal place and wonderful for a lunch stop when touring the old city (located ~5min from church of holy sepelchure). No meat so its perfect for veggies and I'd say vegan too (no dairy offered on menu). Lots of pita bread around so maybe cant promise 100% gluten free awarness. Price is more then decent and portions are nice. I'd reccomend everything, part for French fries... :) Open till about 15:30/16:00. Fresh, has restrooms which are clean (hadn't had even one tourist who said otherwise). I'd say it is almost a must when you visit the old city...
Read moreMy personal favorite hummus place of all time. Besides the nostalgia the food is cheap, fast, warm, filling, and just scrumptious. Authentic and with a tourist friendly menu. It is popular so it will get noisy when busy so i prefer to go on quieter days. Accessibility is minimal bordering on non existent because of the location. The christian quarter of the old city is in general a difficult place for the disabled. the ancient stone walkways are slippery and uneven, the scent of incense wafting through the air constantly can be overwhelming, it gets very very crowded, and most of the shop owners smoke. I highly recommend the food, getting to it is a perilous journey that is...
