We booked the event room at the restaurant for a small family and friends event. The prices kept increasing with lots of hidden costs and no valid explanation. Our event organiser didn’t turn up and we had to deal with a young waitress who was very nice but didn’t know all the details and who asked at first for more money. The room itself was dangerous and poorly maintained:

The toilet was broken and one of our guests was stuck there for 15 minutes with no apologies from the head waitress or any other member of staff. In addition, there was a big ramp next to one of the windows which made many people slip and fall.

The tables and chairs were old and ugly. The room had horrendous acrostic so we couldn’t play music or have a conversation. People came randomly into the room for the bathroom so we had to stop them and demand them to leave without any help from the staff. The food was mediocre at best and very salty, you will get much better value in a simple BBQ in any venue in Jerusalem. Not all the tables got the food which we paid for and we needed to ask from the waited more than 5 times to bring simple things. There were hairs in the food and the waiters decided to take all the drinks and change them(which were much fewer bottles) even after offering to pay for extras. Half of the tables were wet and stayed like that for the whole event.

The alarm went off every 15 minutes. I feel that the food is so overpriced and maybe a few years ago was good...

By looking at their menu I thought what an amazing authentic middle Eastern food. I thoroughly checked the list of ingredients and consulted the waiter on the best order for my food intolerances, including cabbage. Lettuce salad was served and guess what. It had cabbage sparsely scattered in it, which naturally looked like lettuce, so I chewed it and swallowed it before realising it was cabbage. The manager came with apologies saying they ordinarily change ingredients to their meals every day WITHOUT stating it in the menu or training the waiters?! She was not only completely oblivious to the fact that they can kill someone with her irresponsible food service. But she also did not offer us any compensation for the damage, as the bill came with full charges (apart from "lettuce salad"). The cherry on top was approaching us after we paid to let us know we didn't pay their service charge, which by the way was not even included in the bill! I am describing this all in minute detail, so that you can fully comprehend the depth of the lunacy of people who run this place. They can kill you and charge you for that, so if you value your life stay far away, no matter how tempting their scam...

Tasty maroccan restaurant. Great atmosphere and lovely home made style cooking and generous portions. There is seating outside on the pavement and indoors on ground and second floor (not as pleasant). We had the best seats in the house which are right by the open kitchen so you can view the chefs in action. We tried several dishes from starters and mains and we pretty much liked everything we tried especially the crispy fried cigars, the fried fish in sharmola spices and the side dishes of the cook green beans. We also liked the home made maroccan almonds sweets for dessert. The service is friendly but not slick and professional. You get left unattended and need to regularly ask and call for attention. Note that your starters and mains will all arrive together unless you specifically ask to separate them.

8.27.17 - we came here after leaving Hatzol because we waited 20 minutes without being serviced. I'm not sure if it's the culture to chase down the waiters, but Hamotzi was very busy inside, outside, and upstairs and they had a new waiter in training. The food was great. We tried their grilled meats dish, Humous, Okra, and Fresh Chicken with harissa and preserved lemon, all of which were great. Although the service was okay, I think the owner checked on us half way through the meal, which made up for the spotty service. It's nothing personal, but maybe I expect a little more of the basics. I'm glad our hotel, and specifically Simcha, made the recommendations for us. She definitely knows her restaurants and Jerusalem.

At first it looks like a very good restaurant, the menu offers plenty of exotic Moroccan dishes and it seems like you've made the right choice! But, the quality of the cooking is medium to low, the dishes doesn't worth the price and the management is poor! The service is very good, yet the supervisor didn't do his job, didn't come to see why we've returned our dishes and was giving us the feeling that we're not OK! Compared to other Moroccan restaurants I've been to, where the food was freshly made and was served hot and the texture was excellent as well as the service, this restaurant is medium to poor! I will not return to eat at this place again and I'm not recommending on this restaurant!
