I had very high expectations for this place that I heard some good things about, and it was in short - a huge disappointment.
Food wise - it was just ok. We ordered the entire menu. Some dishes were interesting - like the sauce on the Thai beans. The melon and cheese dish was cool, but felt like two separate dishes. The sashimi was good. The cabbage salad was poorly executed, literally large chunks of cabbage with this very light sauce, felt as if we were eating just raw cabbage for fun.
Service was just bad. We sat there for two hours and forty minutes. And most of the time we were waiting. Waiting for food, waiting for water, waiting for wine tastings. We received the first batch of dishes before we even tasted any wine. We were constantly asking for water (either because we ran out and no one was paying attention to us or because we just weren’t given any). We finished the bottle of wine we ordered and no one bothered to take it away or ask if we want any more wine.
At some point we were waiting for the last two dishes we ordered, waiting for a while. Sitting there, with no water or napkins. Empty glasses. We caught the attention of someone who looked like the chef or owner. He came over with a glass of wine wanting to toast with us, and said “ya Israelis don’t like empty glasses”. He asked how things were until now, we replied “They were OK.” And that we were missing two dishes. He said he was going to check, no one bothered to see why things were just “OK”. We kept waiting for the remaining two dishes for an additional while.
Sadly we...
Read moreI had the privilege of visiting HaKatan, and let me tell you, it was an absolute wow! From the moment I sat at the intimate 2-chair bar, my culinary adventure began.
I had the pleasure of indulging in the entire menu, and each dish was a testament to the skill and creativity of the chef. Every bite was a symphony of flavors that delighted my taste buds. To top it off, I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine, which perfectly complemented the delectable dishes.
The staff at HaKatan were not only highly professional but also incredibly friendly and accommodating. Their genuine smiles and attentiveness added an extra touch of warmth to the already exceptional experience. I felt truly welcomed and taken care of throughout my visit.
I must give a special shout-out to the owner and chef, Ido. His passion for food and dedication to his craft shone through in every aspect of the dining experience. His creativity and attention to detail elevated the meal to another level. It was an honor to witness his culinary prowess firsthand.
Without a doubt, HaKatan deserves a well-deserved 5-star rating. It's a place where passion, professionalism, and a love for food come together in perfect harmony. I highly recommend visiting HaKatan for an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you in awe. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreWe had high expectations from this place, especially after reading an article on Haaretz about it… but it was a lame experience.
The food - very small dishes, just too small. Above that, nothing special about them, no kick, no special taste. The wine - was cheap in price (but also in taste unfortunately)… The service - was messy as well, they forgot to come to us and mixed tables… also, they had just too big staff for the number of guests, that’s probably why the menu price is high compared to what you get… The atmosphere - music was nice, but the outdoor sitting is just too cheap…
My 2 cents - don’t waste your money and time on this place, go somewhere else in Lewinsky, I found a few nice, cozy and looks promising places, few meters away…
(Don’t have any photos, as really it was...
