We recently dined at R48, and it was an exceptional culinary experience. The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, with a sleek design and soft lighting that made for a relaxing evening.
Appetizers: We started with freshly baked bread, served alongside flavorful olives, pickled peppers, and a delicious spread of tapenade and other condiments. Each bite was bursting with rich, well-balanced flavors, setting the tone for the rest of the meal.
One standout starter was the beautifully presented raw fish dish. Topped with finely sliced chili, pistachios, and fresh herbs, it combined delicate textures with a slight kick from the chili, all tied together with an incredible harmony of seasonings. It was a refreshing and creative dish that we truly enjoyed.
Main Course: For the main, we had a burger served with a savory red wine reduction and grilled onions. The burger was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, with the richness of the red wine sauce elevating the dish to another level. It paired wonderfully with the creamy mashed potatoes, which were smooth and indulgent—definitely a comforting side to the hearty burger.
Dessert: To finish, we indulged in a delightful coffee ice cream-filled pastry topped with warm chocolate sauce. The contrast between the light, airy pastry and the rich chocolate made it a perfect way to end the meal, offering just the right amount of sweetness.
Overall: The service at R48 was attentive, and each course was served with great attention to detail and care. Every dish we tried was a testament to the creativity and expertise of the kitchen. From the vibrant appetizers to the satisfying main courses and the delightful dessert, the dinner was outstanding. We highly recommend R48 for anyone looking for a refined yet comfortable...
Read moreTerrible Service at a Place That Calls Itself a Fine Dining Restaurant
Having traveled the world and visited many restaurants, this was the first time I encountered such an appalling level of service. What made it even more surprising was that this place presents itself as a fine dining restaurant with a chef-driven menu and high-end service.
From the very beginning, the evening went wrong. When we asked simple questions about the dishes on the menu, we were rudely told: “Read it yourself, everything is written there.” The staff was clearly rushing us and gave us judgmental looks based on our appearance — even though there is no mention of a dress code anywhere.
The highlight of the poor service came when we ordered wine: it was carelessly splashed into the glass, spilling onto the table. The bottle wasn’t shown, no apology was given, and no one even bothered to wipe the table afterward. This kind of service would be unacceptable even in a basic café, let alone in a place that claims to be of a high standard.
We left in a terrible mood. The whole evening was ruined. I truly hope that the owners of this place will one day show up unannounced and see for themselves the disaster that’s happening in their restaurant.
I sincerely hope this is the only so-called “fine dining” restaurant with such a shockingly low level of service. For now, it was nothing but a huge disappointment...
Read moreSimple, crisp, elevated but not over the top and gimmicky like some Tel Aviv hot spots. The effortlessly delivered sophisticated fare is focused on freshness. Our entrees were spare in presentation, not busy but the flavors are robust and comforting. We had a delightful white French wine that paired well with the shrimp linguine, sea bream and delectable chicken liver. Surprise fresh salad and later chocolate mouse on the house. Substitutions were allowed! Appetizers were addicting I didn't want them taken away when main courses arrived. Service was relaxed, relatable, sweet and super easy to beckon. I heard the owner chef is well known and run several well regarded restaurants. So glad we lunched here. Highly...
