Restaurant Review: "Kapara" - A Taste of Authentic Italian Cuisine
As a lover of Italian food, I am always on the lookout for new places to try and assess based on my personal benchmark dish, Carbonara. I must say, "Kapara" in Tel Aviv has undoubtedly served me the best Carbonara I have found in Israel so far, and I've had the opportunity to sample quite a few. When judging an Italian restaurant, I always consider how closely they can replicate the original flavors I experienced in Italy, and "Kapara" has truly nailed it!
To begin with, the spaghetti was cooked to perfection, al dente just as it should be. What surprised me the most was that I didn't need to add anything to enhance the dish. No salt, no parmesan, no pepper—everything was already perfectly balanced. "Kapara" respects the traditional ingredients and doesn't stray by adding unnecessary elements such as cream or beans. The Carbonara here is simple, yet it packs a powerful punch of flavors.
My dining companion had the Amatriciana, and the sauce was executed with great precision. It had the same boldness and intensity as the Carbonara, yet it didn't overpower the dish. The flavors were rich and delightful.
For dessert, we indulged in a beautiful Torta Ricotta. It was not overly sweet, which suited my taste perfectly. As a pleasant surprise, we were also treated to a complementary Tiramisu, which was enjoyable, but I must admit that I preferred the Torta Ricotta.
If I were to make one remark, it would be regarding the portion size. It could be just a bit bigger. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra to ensure a more substantial serving. After all, it is a restaurant, and while I understand that prices have increased and everything is becoming more expensive, it would be nice to have a slightly larger portion.
The ambiance at "Kapara" is lovely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is situated in a trendy location, adding to its appeal.
I will undoubtedly return to "Kapara" to savor their delightful Carbonara once again. If you're seeking an authentic Italian culinary experience, I highly recommend...
Read moreI was craving lemon pasta and got lots of recommendations from Belle Aviv to try Kapara Mio. We made an reservation the same day and wow, it was now one of our TO GO SPOTS. We ordered the lemon pasta and the caco de pepe and I must say, it was one of the best caco de pepe's we have ever tasted, it felt like we were transported back to Rome, it was DELICIOUS.
The vibes are great too, the hostees was super lovely and welcoming, they were offering shots as guests were waiting to be seated.
Our waiter was very helpful, quick, professional, just a wonderful evening all in all. Our table got targeted by the bats in the tree above and they moved us instantly and made sure all the other guests were comfortable as well.
The only only only thing that I wouldn't order again is the focaccia. It was more of a chunk of bread and just not what I was expecting. But soaked in the pasta sauce it was okay!
Obviously, already made another reservation and going back tonight (48 hours later 😀) for another...
Read moreI gave only two stars for the flowing reasons: No coffee in Italian restaurant!!!! Next door, literally 2 meters from were we sat there is a coffee take away place. I suggested that we order desert and bring our coffee from there. The waitress told us that is not allowed... So we skipped the desert and had the cake with the coffee next door. Only pasta menu - quite tasty, smallish portion (ravioli) for a price of 70 shekels. Not cheap for the ambience (literally seating in the busiest street), size of portion and attitude White wine arrived in a water glass, first we thought it is another water... Napkins are very small. The two dishes arrived in some 5 minutes apart interval. So one had to start eating before it got cold. Not too professional... It is not a falafel place...
Overall, i wouldn't return there for the above reasons. Too many...
