I'll start with the food and drinks - 1.) Buffalo chicken wings - broken bones in almost every piece! It was not proper pieces of wings, but rather pieces of chicken chopped through the bone, mostly pieces of shoulder part of wings with the skinny part chopped off, which makes them round and awkward,, but also chicken back (???), so it was very messy to eat, the meat was a little dry, depending on the part and small pieces of broken bones in almost every "wing" is unacceptable (this is the craziest thing to serve chicken wings like this, it's not even safe and there is absolutely no reason for this, it really blew my mind, the waiter acted surprised when I told him this, so maybe I got unlucky and they usually don't do this. Update: I searched for wings on other pictures in reviews and they actually look normal, so I guess I just got "lucky"). Also the blue cheese sauce was very thin (should be thicker, but this is no big deal). Good thing about the wings is they are fried pretty nicely (batter tasted good and crispy under the spicy sauce) and coated well in very spicy sauce (I like spicy), but the other stuff completely ruins it. 2.) The portions are not big at all, unlike some popular review here says. A portion of tacos is just 2 small tacos. (The portions for appetizers are normal, but tacos felt even smaller than our previous appetizers) 3). The carnes (beef) tacos were tasty, but I asked to make them spicy and I guess they forgot or thought that a tiny slice of pepper on top is enough (which I tried separately and it tasted like sweet bell pepper), this is not a big deal, but a little disappointing. 4.) The fish tacos are made with deep fried fish (it says so in the menu, so there was no surprise here), which is unusual and we thought that they weren't very good, not because there was something wrong with them, but just a big chunk of deep fried fish in a taco didn't go well with guacamole. 5.) Fried calamari was good (nothing special here, pieces were small, so the ratio of batter to calamari is very high, but I kinda like that, they were fried nicely). 6.) No 0% alcohol beer - I know this type of beer is not popular in Israel, but spicy mexican food goes very well with beer and it's really disappointing they didn't have any, such an easy thing to add to a menu for people behind the wheel or who don't drink alcohol, but instead they have no gluten beer... 7.) Wife had alcohol free margarita, it was good and reasonably priced (we didn't find it in the menu, so we were wondering how much could it cost - it's 18 nis, while normal margarita is around 50)
Positives - nice atmosphere, the waiter was very pleasant, when he asked how was the food I had to ask why in the world are their "wings" like that and he seemed surprised and offered a dessert on the house, we had chocolate mousse, it was pretty good. Overall I was disappointed with the food and I personally would not come back, although it has a fun atmosphere and good service.
P.s. My wife liked it more than me, so I can't say that I don't recommend it, I think many people will enjoy it, especially if they come for a fun atmosphere and food is...
Read moreHeard a lot of good and bad reviews about this place. Although we decided to try it, we're two couples and from the beginning it was a great experience, so let's begin...
As we arrived to the adresse, a sign point us to get into an old elevator like the ones secret spy use in the middle of the desert, we got to the second floor opened the door and got a splendid feeling like just arriving in a little bistro in the middle of mexico.
The staff was sweet and right away suggested some of there nicest meals and cocktails(they were great although there's just 5, we really love cocktails, so this time we took just one each). So the meals got to the table one by one, letting us finish the previous one and enjoy it. We took some nachos(delicious, would have put a bit more cheese), we took maybe 8 or 10 tacos, and one speciality which was a delicious surprise. At the end just befor the desert, we got some tequila shots with the staff, with the lime and salt.. the desert were splendid, a quite small but great.
The place is lovely, well decorated, there's some great vibes and the price was ok we got all that for 575 shekel so 675 with tip.
Really great, we'll definitely send our friends to you in the future.
Thanks for...
Read moreI'm a bit torn about this place, the atmosphere is spot on, and that's hard to get. Service on point (even though people forgot stuff but no worries) the food was kinda disappointing, pretty much the only thing we all really enjoyed was the shrimp tacos which were really good!
But everything else was not as special. You can see that they care, and the dishes are made with care. But they just don't make you say, 'Wow, this is great' the other tacos are boring. The tortilla seemed to be a flour tortilla in some tacos, which as a San Franciscan is blasphemy. I get that the tamales are not for everyone, but they didn't quite feel right. The chilli was just not tasty.
The cocktail's were ok, 2 sent them back kind of
I really want this place to do well and I actually do recommend going there but this was my last experience there - the time I visited years before, and my memory was better...
