Il Pescatore — Restaurant in Agrigento

Tourist trap. The pasta was way too hard and not edible - when we pointed this out to the waitress she justified it saying they do it 'al dente' implying we didn't know what 'al dente' means. After we asked, they made the pasta again and this time it was too salty and, again, not edible. We also ordered grilled fish and that was another big disappointment: smelly and chewy, the fish was not edible either and definitely a couple of days old (we informed the owner and he insisted the fish was good). To sum up we spent roughly 80 euro and could only eat the starter, which was actually ok. To the owner, do not assume people do not understand anything about food just cause they look...

In the top 10 of best restaurants in Agrigento! Came here for lunch on a weekend and I was seated immediately, with a choice of tables. You can always tell when a restaurant is going to be nice when the waiting staff all looks happy and are joking and smiling with each other throughout the service. I was well attended to, and given some good advice on choices. This is not "fine dining", as in it is not a stuffy formal best cutlery and linen type of affair, it is simply excellently prepared. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. The wine was terrific and matched perfectly the amazing meal. Dessert exquisite! Cash and card both...

Two stars for the location, general quality of ingredients and some of the staff. Out of four dishes, non was 'tasty' and this is meant literally. No taste at all. Grilled fish plate was exactly that, pieces of fish, grilled. No spices, nothing. Some of them tasted like the grill itself. Basically, the same accounted for the remaining three. Olive oil with the beans on the side was tasty though. Bottom line unfortunately is, the place is completely overrated or had its worst day. It was even a recommendation to go there.
