One of the best restaurant in Agrigento, Sicilia, Italia
Restaurant is placed on the 2nd floor of the hotel.
I had the best Caponata, swordfish steak and seafood pasta here, along with the yummy tiramisus which I ordered extra and finished the second one just by myself.
Caponata Melanza Appetizer, which is made of seasonal legumes such as green olive, onion, eggplant, paprika, celery, young pumpkin, cooked(boiled) and touched with olive oil and anchovy. Very similar to Ratatouille from France. Healthy and homey.
Pesce Spada Pistaccio (Swordfish Steak) I couldn't find any other swordfish steak yummy as this place before leaving Sicilia. Steak has the softy moisty texture covered with crunched/baked pistachio. I will never forget the moisture of the steak and the harmony of pistaccio.
Seafood Pasta (Linguine) I met the sea inside my mouth. From the shrimp, from the mussels, the taste of the sea covered with tomato sauce rushes into your tongue to deliver the taste of mediterranean sea.
Tiramisu There are many restaurant with good dishes but having an excellent dessert also is rare to be found. Sal8's Tiramisu is a bit sugary but has the deep texture which made me to order one more. I was so happy and felt sugar high, which was good for me because I had to be ready to start a long journey to the temples and turkish stairs.

I’ve decided to go for Christmas Lunch at Sal8 last minute and the outstanding service started from the phone call. We were lucky enough to get the last table available and the lady who answered the call was lovely. We’ve arrived already with high expectations due to the reviews but if I could give 100 stars, I definitely would. Service and food were amazing! We had all seafood special menu, and there was not a single thing that I could possibly point out as area of improvement. I am a big enthusiastic of good food and wine/champagne and they had it all. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the personnel who assisted us during this very special day, but the gentleman who works for the past 8 years and the lady who answer the calls, yet provide service were absolutely amazing. It’s quite difficult to find places like that in “small cities”, and I wish I could have met the Chef to pass on my honest appreciation for this beautiful experience. When in Sicily, I will definitely come back! They deserve Michelin Stars for sure. And believe me, I’ve been in many restaurants around this beautiful world. I had the pork belly and a side of roast potatoes and my wife had mackeral stuffed with ricotta and other things, and a side of grilled vegetables. I must say the pork belly was very very good with great sauces and accompaniments. We were both very pleased with these meals and we ordered two desserts as well, a fab small cheesecake and berries and a parfait. These were both very good. The service was a bit slow at times but they were very very busy on this night. We could not fault their attention to detail in the presentation of the food and also the atmosphere of the restaurant. Only gave 4 stars for service because we had to try to get waiters attention more than once as they were very busy with people coming and going. It took us quite some time to get the bill so while we were waiting they gave us two complementary ports as an after dinner drink. (My wife had to drink them both as I am a non alcohol drinker....she managed this with no problem whatsoever.) This was s very kind, gesture and they offered us complementary sparkling wine to start with the menu as well. A really nice touch and one you do not get in our home country. Highly recommend...
