This place is controversial. It was my no 1 choice for a visit to Arezzo. But people in my group disputed it. Because of the mixed reviews. That it’s now a tourist trap and not authentic anymore. Saying that it uses foreign cooks and is not real Tuscan food anymore.
This place is like a huge old fashion traditional Tratoria. There is an AC but it didn’t work enough to cool the room we were in. It was HOT. The menu is immense with great prices and a lot of traditional local delicacies. As a group of 10 we ordered a mix of everything. Service seems slow, but place was simply packed they didn’t take reservations but in August we came early and they could seat all 10.
We ordered dishes, but basically chose to share. The wild boar pasta was tasty. The cut steaks was good. But the hero of the meal for me was the pork Liver. It was cooked to perfection. So tasty and not hard or overcooked. Best liver on our trip. I think these traditional local delicacies are their best dishes.
The place is comparable to Da Mario In Florence but way way bigger. Pricing is similar.
In the end yes there was non Italians serving and cooking the food, but for me it was still great. Highly recommended for a trader Tuscan restaurant at a great...

Pasta is fresh and full of flavour, and there is an option to match your preferred one with the sauce. I really enjoyed the papardelle with fresh truffle. However, the main course was really disappointing. I had duck cooked in the oven and the dish was four pieces of bones with hardly any tasteless flesh. If I had known, I would have asked pasta twice instead. The house wine was local, nice and easy to drink.
About desert, tiramisu is one of.my favourite options always, here it was really disappointing, again, nor taste nor flavour. However, they served an excellent pannacotta and the limoncello we asked was equally excellent.
The atmosphere is nice and familiar, again, the staff...
Read moreI know we are in the middle of Italy but with the amount of recommendations the restaurant has I would expect the waiters to be able to speak at least a bit of English. Aside from lack of mutual understanding the overall level of service wasn't up to my standards.
I ordered Congillio in porchetta. In English it was called "Roasted rabbit with garlic and fennel". The English description of the dish is inconsistent with reality. The dish isn't seasoned at all. You cannot taste fennel or garlic (both of which have strong tastes). I know how rabbit should be prepared. Aside from lack of spices the meat itself was dry and hard to swallow. I rarely don't finish food I cook or order but this time I couldn't bring myself to finish that rabbit "dish".
The "Ribollita" I also ordered also wasn't that good but at least it's description was accurate and...
