Good food overall, but I have no words for what I experienced the Friday night I went. They allowed a middle aged Italian couple to bring their DOG who BARKED LOUDLY most of the time. When I first entered and heard the very loud bark from a restless Dalmatian just a few tables over from me, I was told the dog won't bark any further, and that these were friends of the owner or management. The restaurant is in a deep, windowless old room, which ECHOES and magnifies sounds. I had never in my life heard such a loud bark, nor such a high-pitched loud one. It went right through my very soul as I was trying to eat. What was so alarming was that the dog was not controllable or obedient. The owners had to have known their dog would NOT be quiet under such setting, yet they brought it anyway.
The couple did precious little to control the dog, thinking they were entitled to inflict this unprecedented annoyance on other customers in a well-known restaurant. They never even apologized when they left, which was not soon enough. They lingered while the dog was getting increasingly restless. I got the distinct impression these were LOCALS who couldn't care less about visitors.
I'll also add that the servers are not exactly kind either. The woman I had that night seemed to have had an attitude of unpleasant discontent. Because the place is in a basement type room, you will get no cell service. They have wifi, but the password did not work on my phone. The server woman was useless to help. She obviously didn't want to help me at all.
There are so many excellent restaurants in Assisi. There's no reason to go to this DOG POUND. Remember, these people were likely locals. They will be back on a regular basis. The chances of you meeting their EXTREMELY loud dog are not slim. You've been warned. And I'm a dog lover, but I am not an ENTITLED PEOPLE lover.
Loud resounding barks and dining do not mix. Owners, you should be ashamed if you continue to allow this. I've already told many people in Assisi about it. They were shocked. I will...
Read moreI waited 30 minutes and I was already at the restaurant when it opened, and I told the waiter about the four courses. But in the end, the waiter only served 3 dishes. I asked them to give it to me. I ended up waiting 40 minutes and their beef was very unpalatable and very speechless. Do you have any sincerity to solve it? Because of your mistake and missed the bus, in the end I didn't get any compensation, and the waiter at the door told me that it wasn't her problem, I wanted to ask who else this store was divided into? As a person in the store, no one in the store has an opinion, how to solve the problem? You are just a piece of garbage, I will come here once in my life, and choosing your restaurant is my biggest mistake,After all, the waiter at the front of your store can't do anything but...
Read moreThe food quality reflects the price. Don’t expect a 4 star meal (maybe for the pizza). But DO EXPECT friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and English speaking staff. Shout out to the FOH and my Assisi born waiter, for being so enthusiastic and agreeable. Definitely come here if you want a warm, family friendly environment with beautiful ambiance. There are different rooms on different levels in a cave style restaurant set along a historical street in old Asissi. The ragu pasta wasn’t the best meal I’ve had (could be because I arrived later) but the meal was saved by the great house wine deal, so I left smiling and dancing home :)
If you’re looking for something late, affordable, cozy, and quick- this is for sure your place !
They have Wi-Fi. Gluten free pasta...
