I'm certain that anyone claiming that this is the "best meal they've eaten on their __ week trip through Italy" is a paid shill. We've been traveling for 4 weeks and I can unequivocally say this is mediocre at best. No where but a tourist trap will you get pastas with the degree of cream sauces as you will here. Simply having the "Add Truffles" option to every pasta dish is a sign of lack of respect for food. Overall the pastas we 3/5 but overpriced. IMHO

As stated above, we've been traveling for 4 weeks and have eaten at approximately 50 restaurants (2 of them Michelin Starred), dozens and dozens of pasta dishes so I can assure you when we decided to order a burger, because the server/manager bragged about how great they were, we were not hesitant. Boy was that a huge mistake. Without question some of the worst food I've ever put in my mouth in 53 years. Imagine a burger patty like a meatball that was cooked at 11am and kept warm all day then served at 8pm. Hockey pucks have more moisture. The flavor was of old cow leather & wet funk. Worst of all when the server/manager noticed we left 2/3 of the patties on the plate and asked what was wrong and we said the meat was very, very dry and overcooked and tough he offered nothing. Zero. An offhand comment about how maybe the cooks overcooked it. Charged for both as if nothing had happened. The fries were also the frozen type. Shocking after multiple comments about how "fatto in casa" (homemade) everything is here. Baloney.

Overall we've noticed in Italy meats are a challenge. Generally overcooked and dry. Lesson learned. Stick to pasta, pizza and cured meats.

2 Stars for the nice ambience and ok pastas.

Avoid this tourist trap and ignore the glowing reviews. Those...

AVOID! Having been there many times before, but not for a while, I was looking forward to our visit last night. When we arrived, we were "greeted" by a tall waiter. We asked for a table for two, and he asked "you want to eat?!" in a pretty off-putting tone. Anyway, we were shown to a table in a corner, well out of the way of everything as if they were trying to hide us. The only other people in there were a table of elderly Americans who seemed to be having a lot of issues with this rude waiter. It was like everything was too much trouble for him. His tone with them was awful. Disrespectful and repeating their requests in an incredulous-mock tone. A female waiter came and delivered our water. Clanking the bottle hard on the glasses and pouring the water as fast as possible. If there is a way to aggressively or violently pour water, then this person has perfected it to a fine art. Then the tall waiter comes to ask us for our food order. We were in the middle of discussing whether to leave or not, so my partner asked if we could have two minutes. Honest to goodness, if he didn't roll his eyes and stalk off. That was enough. Not another second in that place. Their attitudes were disgusting. It was like they couldn't wait to close up for the night even though we were there an hour an a half before they shut. Perhaps they argued with the owner and wanted to spite him/her? There are so many welcoming eateries in Assisi. We ended up eating in a pizzeria on the square, which was delightful, reasonable and good quality and which saved our evening from...

This Pizzeria was my favorite for years. It has been under new ownership since the pandemic. The food is good, but I had to wait 2 hours (literally) for my food to get to everyone in my group. It was a large group but it took 30 minutes to make each batch of pizzas (4-5 at a time) and I looked at my watch by the time the last pizza arrive it was over 2 hours. This was my second time under the new ownership after more than 30 times before. I've bragged to so many people about this place, and I'm deeply saddened to say, that I will never go back. I spent close to $600 for my party, and yet not even an apology or a discount for the horribly slow service. I have had bad service, but this was incredibly slow beyond what's even remotely acceptable. The owner was making the pizzas while everyone just watched, and it took him a very long time to make each one. Food was good and they were friendly, but it was such an incredible waste of our time, even when they were expecting us. My group expressed how disappointed they were about this, after I had bragged to them about it, and this was my second time under such a horrible managment. Sadly, I'll never go back there. The previous owner from Naples was beyond amazing, but new ownership needs to get things undercontrol and learn to manage such a...

We wanted a great restaurant off the beaten path; one with good food and atmosphere. We found that and more at I Monaci! The food was fresh, local, and out of this world. Our waiter helped us choose the best dishes and wine for us (the menu was in Italian and English). Our server was very friendly and we all talked about our children together. The owner came out and asked if everything was okay - and it was, in fact, amazing. The best food we have experienced in our two weeks here. Pricing was almost too low for the quality and service we received. A MUST for anyone that wants phenomenal food, and kind and attentive service. As soon as we can, we will return to Italy - and eat at this restaurant again. Grazie!!

Saluti.
