Book your reservations early, it is very worth it! We would have eaten here every day of our stay in Assisi if we had been prepared. To start, the bruschetta variety appetizer was fantastic. The flavors on the bruschetta were all delicious. The Strangozzi Degli Umbri was very well seasoned and salted. The bacon, delicious. The lamb was one of the best meats I've had in a restaurant in Italy. It was well cooked, soft and had a great taste. The side for the lamb was roasted potatoes and that had to some of the best potatoes I have ever had. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. It came with the roasted potatoes as well and really pulled the meal together. For dessert, we had the Rocciata Assisana con crema pastriccera and the tiramisu. The first was a local dessert and worth a try. The tiramisu is something you should have at least once in your life. It was the best tiramisu we tried in Italy and would come back again just to have it one more time. The service was phenomenal. Ther staff, very attentive, always asking how the food was, if we needed anything and even offered to bring an extra plate for my wife to try one of the dishes I ordered. Do yourself a favor and go out of your way, wherever in Italy you may be,...
Read moreI came expecting great things based on reviews and recommendations from a famous travel advisor. I was pretty disappointed by my pasta dish and even more so by the veal. Neither were presented very well. The spaghetti dish was presented in a frying pan, which was unique, but there were zero garnishes to provide visual interest. It tasted okay; just the right amount of spiciness. The veal, however, was way overcooked to the point of being dry. The sauce, of which there wasn't much, was okay. The presentation could have been much better; the veal came with a little sauce on it, a pile of fried sliced potatoes, and that was it. Looked a bit sorry to me. The glass of house red paired well with the spicy pasta dish. I stuck around for the recommended dessert and was happy with it; it was presented well and tasted delicious. It's a local favorite; a bit like an apple strudel but with nuts. It had vanilla cream added and was topped with powdered sugar. I really hope this place...
Read moreMe and my friends came to eat here tonight, and it was quite fabulous. I was worried about gluten (I'm allergic) yet they mark the allergies with numbers and it was quite easy to find something edible.
The food was a 5/5. I had pork wrapped in bacon with onion jam and potatoes on the side, and while the potatoes were something I could've made easily at home, the rest wasn't. It was beautifully tasty, best pork I've had. It also paired decently with my wine.
The service was also a 5/5. Abdul (hope I'm spelling your name right!) was awesome and very nice. He knows very good English and was great with the service, and seemed very much to care about his job.
The outside atmosphere was lovely, 5/5. It felt nice not being inside and having a quite nice atmosphere.
Overall, food is a little more expensive creating a fancy environment with more than competent employees. The food is fantastic just like the employees. Also, allergies are listed and there are gluten...
