Il Pozzo dei Desideri — Restaurant in Bagnoregio

I decided to go eat in this restaurant since it had good reviews. I really don’t understand why afterwards. The terrace was full of cats and the seats not confortable. I really don’t think anything was good from what we ordered. The plate to share in appetizer was really nothing fresh or good quality. The salad was industrial for sure. The dishes I am not sure but since I saw what the kitchen looks like, i am pretty sure they can’t offer anything home made. My primo for instance was not the type of pasta listed on the menu so maybe beware and reconfirm with the waiter since menu can’t be trusted. Finally the prices are not so cheap for Italy. I would suggest to go eat in Viterbo maybe. I can’t wait to find a shop open and eat an apple. The place (the city I mean), is beautiful to see but I would not stop there to eat. Or maybe for a drink.

The location is fabulous, all carved out in different old cantinas. The service is courteous and quick. The food is delicious with some unexpected combinations that really work well: the scottona for instance comes with a cheese sauce and a guacamole, the first toning down the fat of the pancetta, the second adding a tad of acidity, balancing out the dish.

The low note for me was the salad I ordered as a side dish, with third rate olives. Why ruining the experience with a low quality product while all the rest was everything but?

San Valentino a Civita di Bagnoregio. Abbiamo trovato un locale veramente carino e molto particolare internamente ricoperti da muri in pietra, anche se dall'ingresso sembra di entrare dentro la residenza di qualcuno. Il pranzo è stato composto da un tagliere misto come antipasto, una bottiglia di vino 2 primi 2 secondi 2 dolci e un caffè. Siamo rimasti un po delusi dal tagliere di prodotti tipici perché i salumi tagliati spessi e i formaggi veramente miseri. Il mio primo è stato abbastanza soddisfacente anche se i ravioloni con ricotta e carne con crema al formaggio e tartufo erano parecchio salati e con veramente troppo formaggio. Il primo della mia compagna : una carbonara la tartufo veramente ben fatta. Come secondo abbiamo preso l entrecote di bufala al tartufo e i bocconcini di capriolo con olive e bacche di ginepro. L'entrecote senza infamia e senza lode, il gusto della carne veniva coperto dall'eccessivo tartufo presente. I bocconcini di capriolo, premettendo che era la prima volta che lo mangiavo, erano molto teneri e con un sentore di selvatico molto particolare ma il condimento a mio parere non si sentiva minimamente. Come dolci abbiamo preso una torta classica con i pinoli e una specie di mignon con crema e fragole. La mia torta era buonissima mi ha ricordato quelle che faceva mia madre. Il mignon molto asciugo e la crema insipida. Il pranzo ci è stato servito da un ragazzo molto gentile ma un po impacciato. In conclusione un locale molto particolare ma il cibo non entusiasmante.
