Botta — Restaurant in Bari

Sat down, waited 15+ minutes to get a menu (which was basically a piece of wood with QR code on it, so we had to scan it and check their website, no paper menu, very strange). Got the idea of what we want to eat, we had to stop a waiter so we can tell them what we want to order as they were too busy to come ask us for our order. Then we waited around 20 minutes and our pizzas came. The restaurant by the way looks un-cozy and depressing, as if the last time there was a renovation was in the previous century (really depressing looking place for my standards). Then we started to eat our worst pizza of our lives in Italy. It did not taste like anything, the quality of dough was poor, sparse ingredients and a mistery cheese that wasn’t mozzarella. Then we wanted to pay and leave in disappointment, told to one waiter that we are willing to pay and to leave and then this guy went and served “FOUR” tables before coming to us with the receipt so we can pay and leave. This place was way too loud. Their pizza was so thin that the edge was the only party I could hold; otherwise I had to use a fork and knife to eat the pizza. The toppings were sparse with the exception of the cheese. No one spoke english well enough to take our order properly. We asked to split the bill 7 ways. The staff said we could. A while later, some manager-like person came out and said in a very rude tone, no splitting the bill. Here, the customer is not always right. There are so many other good pizzerias in the neighborhood. Go somewhere that appreciates their customers. As a tourist, we didn't have phones available and they had no paper menus. They gave us QR code for the menu. The waitress said we could use WiFi. A bit later she said no wifi...

I stayed in Bari for three days in May. I lived nearby Pizzeria Angelo Botta and came there for dinner everyday! The restaurant looks quite simple but food is excellent. I tried several types of pizza and they all were good. Also, wine was tasty and they generously poured almost the full glass.
