Beautiful place, but not good food.
I asked for a recommendation for a wine that would not be too dry or too light and would be fruity like black cherries. One of the more expensive wines was recommended, and it was dry, light and had no fruitiness.. Was awful. (I saw later that they had a house wine in carafes that by it's color was definitely more in line with what I was looking for.)
We ordered an insalata mista or verde which was shredded white cabbage with tomatoes that could have been from a grocery store in Minnesota in the winter, lacking color and flavor. We had beautiful tomatoes everywhere and were surprised that this place associated with an agriturismo would have such terrible produce. The meal was gnocchi with a porcini cream sauce which tasted bland and like paste..even doucing in salt and pepper didn't help. I hadn't eaten all day so was starving and even with this, I had 3-4 bites and that's all I could choke down. My husband ordered pasta with a meat sauce. Pasta was super al dente.. a bit of crunch, and he only found a spec of meat, smaller than a dime. We ordered tiramisu.. Which was delicious. More like a very light mousse.
Absolutely beautiful setting. Too bad the...
Read moreWe stayed in the cottage at the complex so this restaurant was a big convenience for us. The staff spoke English and was super friendly. The views of Lake Como are amazing, whether you're seated inside or on the terrace. Dogs are allowed as well, which is always a plus since we almost always travel with our dog. We decided to order the food to go, to enjoy it on our private terrace in our cottage. The menu seems to be seasonal and frequently changes; on our visit, we ordered the ravioli and zucchini soup as starters, and grilled sausage and Veal stew. The veal meat and the sausage was good. It came with polenta but I don't care much for polenta so we substituted it with grilled vegetables and it was fine. The stand out choices were our two desserts and the latte. We had the chocolate mousse with berry sauce which was absolutely perfect. The apple strudel was extremely fresh and just like grandmother would make it. Overall, I think a visit here would be worth a drive from Bellano or if you're staying in the complex, do yourself a favor and walk...
Read moreFood is very average Terrible customer service - sarcastic staff, very (very) inattentive, as tourists we felt treated differently to Italians, had to ask to order (twice) and pay and received very sarcastic responses. Staff are incredibly incompetent with regards to their own menu. As this is the only restaurant in the area, we had to go back the following day for lunch. We arrived just as they opened on a fully-booked Sunday to be told we could only take away. We ordered and paid, service once again very poor. After paying we were told there were no potatoes which we paid extra for ... no potatoes just as they open on a fully-booked weekend is ridiculous. No apology or even offering of a refund from the staff.
Great view but poorly organised and terrible service detriments the experience. Not...
