We ate here two days in a row; that's how much we loved it. They serve classic Italian and regional cuisine. The homemade Bergamo casoncelli, all their pasta, risotto, and polenta, desserts were delish! Our first dinner was last Dec 30, and we had not even finished eating but loved the food so much that we asked if we can be fit in the following night for New Year's Eve. They were fully booked, but they did! The host (and we believe also the owner), Koli, was hospitable and welcoming. He came to every table, held conversations, and made recommendations. The staff was attentive and friendly. Both nights the food was fresh and flavorful, and the wine was great. Every person who ate here left with a satisfied smile because the experience and food were amazing. It was only two streets away from our rental; so it was the perfect location for us (There was also an incredible New Years Eve fireworks display on our street which completed our night). We would've eaten here a third night but we had to continue our trip. We hope to visit again. Highly recommend....
Read moreRistorante Pasta e Basta is a small pasta restaurant on the outskirts of Bergamo towards the airport. Looking for a place to eat while waiting for a transfer I decided to stay here and I must say, it wasn't a let down!
Having been to a number of city-centre Italian restaurants, you note smallish portion sizes and sky-high prices, but this place was a nice balance. With the option to essentially double your portion size for 1€ extra, it certainly fills you up.
I ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara with a beer recommended by my waiter and this was a fab mix. The pasta especially was fresh made in the open-window kitchen and was enjoyable to eat. You also get a topping of cheese and pepper available too to go along with your meal. Charging for what was basically tap water I would say was the only pitfall of this meal.
Waiters at the restaurant were fantastic in catering my ordering journey and made for some good conversation while planning my next steps in the city.
Absolutely I will be back here again and would definitely recommend them for a filling...
Read moreIt used to be my favorite restaurant in Bergamo where I used to eat every time when I was in town, but this time it was very disappointing. We explained that we were in a hurry because we needed to get to the airport on time and asked if they could bring the food fast. Besides the fact that they moved extremely slow, I was served with the wrong food. I explained that this is not what I ordered, thr waitress said that she will bring the correct one, but she brought the same plate. What happened is that I ordered pene arabiatta. After she took our order, she came back and asked if we are ok to receive pene for all types of pasta, we said yes. After I told her that she give me the same plate, but they just added some chilly she said that they were rushing and it was no solution. For this. Then she told me that I give her the wrong order and that she is never wrong. Extremely disrespectful and not to mention that on purpose they made the food very salty. So. I really do not recommend this...
