When treating yourself to a nice restaurant, rated at 4.7/5 stars, one would expect a level of professionalism. That was not my experience. I came for dinner, and unlike other experiences in Italy, I was drastically underwhelmed and disrespected.
The Food: Once seated, I was greeted with a shot of sweet white wine and a bite sized fish paste pancake with actual wasabi. My expectations of Yuzuya grew then and there. Unfortunately, the sushi appetizer had more rice than filling and taste of mayonnaise overpowered the fish and rice. The eel plate, at €26, was overly sweet, to the point where it was difficult to finish, and the portion size was not comparable to the price paid. Additionally, all the sides besides the meager portion of miso soup, were cold. Yes, including the 'omelet' bites. You could get your fill elsewhere for half the price.
Hospitality: Now for my experience. Upon arrival they seemed booked, which would have been fine, I could have gone elsewhere, but were adamant and made space for me in the corner. I sat at 20:42. Presentation was lovley and the gentleman serving me was quite helpful. After choosing my meal, it was placed in front of me at 21:01. See my underwhelming food experience above. As I was enjoying the meal to the extent that I could, the second server came to ask me how it was. This was at 21:23. Only 22 minutes after the main plate was placed infront of me. The interaction went as such, I quote, "How is everything?", she did not let me answer, and she then said, "I need you to finish". She then briskly walked away. Great. I finish my meal at 21:27, and questioned myself why, if they were so full and booked, it took the staff another 10 minutes to bring me the check. I admit, I left upset.
For spending €36.50 on a small appetizer and main dish, I expected an experience equal to a restaurant rated at 4.7/5. Not to be rushed or for my meal to taste as if my cousin who burned water made it and was hiding the lack of flavor with an...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to this restaurant, I had the privilege of experiencing some of the most outstanding service I've ever encountered. The staff here are not just polite and helpful; they go above and beyond to make your visit truly memorable.
A remarkable incident unfolded during our visit. My friends and I were in a bit of a pickle when we found ourselves without a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine in the room we had rented. With no nearby stores open, I decided to turn to the nearest restaurant for assistance. I approached this restaurant and explained our predicament, apologizing profusely for the inconvenience. To my delight, the waiter welcomed us with a warm smile and assured us that it was no trouble at all. He effortlessly uncorked our bottle of wine and, to our great surprise, even gifted us a high-quality corkscrew as a memento of our time in Bologna.
While I can't speak for the food, I can attest that the service at this restaurant is unparalleled. The staff here clearly prioritize making your visit exceptional. I have no doubt that they put the same dedication into the preparation of their dishes as they do in ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of their guests.
In summary, if you're looking for a restaurant that not only serves delicious food but also provides exceptional service, look no further. The kind and helpful staff at this restaurant will make your dining experience truly unforgettable. Kudos to them for turning a simple request into a heartwarming memory that I...
Read moreYuzuya is right behind the central railway station in a district which might very well be the most multiracial one in town.
When weather allows you can pick an outside seat, careful though as Italians seem to still enjoy smoking a lot 🤭. Sitting inside is Imho your best bet. Chairs are uncomfortable after some time, you’re warned.
Moving to the dishes: it’s undoubtedly good 👍. We have been welcomed with some plum wine and more.
In the pics you can see a kaisen special gozen and a sake yuan gozen, never tried before and really enjoyable. The miso was gorgeous too, a staple with any gozen you order.
The service is fine, not overly present as it happens in US i.e. but that has come to an extreme in my case, with very large intervals between orders.
This is a good choice if you want to try some uncommon Japanese dishes neatly served in a...
