Osteria La Pimpinella — Restaurant in Bra

A huge surprise in a town as small as Bra. Full marks for the presentation of food. Family run restaurant, with a couple running the kitchen, assisted by assorted members of the family. The whole experience of presentation, preparation, uniqueness, deconstruction and taste is similar to a tasting menu of a Michelin star restaurant. Simple whitish interiors, lets you focus on the food. Adequate variety of selections in the menu. Enough to satisfy most. White meats were wonderfully prepared & seasoned. Sea food could be seasoned better. Pasta has 'grandma made' pasted all over it. Extremely hearty and satisfying. Possibly the best Panna Cotta I've had in decades. A must visit if you happen...

Very good quality. We could not try the local wine, but the parfume was esquisite. Small entry very delicate. First plate full of taste and with particularly caring service (like when we asked for parmisan on the oasta, and they grated it live). Pessimo servizio. Prenoto un tavolo per due e mi viene detto che per le 21.15 non sarà ancora pronto, ma per le 21.30 sicuramenre e nell'attesa ci viene promessa una bollicina. La bollicina viene offerta dopo mezz'ora e nel dubbio si dimenticano di noi fino alle 22 perché ci passano davanti diverse persone mandate da un rinomato hotel di Bra. Altro quarto d'ora di attesa per l'ordinazione. Incuriosite da un piatto che vediamo su un altro tavolo, chiediamo di cosa si trattasse per ordinarlo e una delle cameriere ci dice che si tratta dell'amuse bouche e che arriverà di default anche a noi. Arriva il piatto di portata e niente. Chiediamo nuovamente l'amuse bouche e si devono informare. Nel frattempo 4 cameriere a tempi alterni ci chiedono se vogliamo il dolce. Risposta definitiva: l'amuse bouche non è per tutti ma a discrezione della cucina. Avremo ordinato troppo poco per i vostri canoni? Diciamo che alle 22.15 la fame ormai era un po' calata... Ero già stata qui e so che si mangia bene, ma anche il servizio e la cura del cliente vogliono la loro parte.
