Went here with the family after checking out the menu outside and it looked so promising. Unfortunately, this is not a a gem.... just the rough.
Each of our family tried a different meal and all the food, even the house specials, were underwhelming. We customarily order the house wine when going to Italian restaurants as we've discovered it's usually great. Not so here.
The service was lackluster as well which was surprising given that there were only 2 other tables occupied the whole time we were there.
We ate outside which was shaded, but there were a surprising number of mosquitoes for being so high up on the hill. This place doesn't really have a view to speak of. It did have a swingset that my kids enjoyed.
So now that I look back on the bill, I guess that was a positive as it came in under 50 euro, but really we spent that same amount of money at other restaurants in the neighborhood and all came back from those places with joy and unique meal experiences or at great views.

We will absolutely go again if we are lucky enough to travel to Como again...

Trattoria Del Cacciatore was a great find and certainly not a tourist trap (which is now norm rather than exception in Como). Excellent value, family friendly and very welcoming. The views are exceptional but don’t expect them from your table. You will struggle to break the bank at this establishment and will be pleasantly surprised by the delicious meal you will enjoy. I would certainly return and recommend to all who wish to avoid the now quintessential Como...
